for the record, whoever decides to tackle pathing, I will become a major waypoint contributor. I am on Redfox's dev team for Foxbot and have done alot of waypointing for him.

Let's get this conversation bumped back to the top. Can anyone resolve any of this now?

Somewhere, server or client, a map is accessed once you engage a mob and he/she is within proximity. I think waypoints are only used to deter mobs, to force them to act a certain way, like with corridors. People have watched as a lion engages you, climbs up a hill, and finally attacks you. It happens all the time!

I'm willing to believe that the map is stored on the server. I don't think the ShowEQers have seen data passed from the client explaining to the mob that the map is a certain way, and that it should respect it in certain spots, etc. Waypoints, for sure, are stored on the server.

I'm pretty sure that until a mob is triggered by aggro, it must respect all of its designated waypoints, and always respect some more restrictive ones, like walls.

Somehow, the mobs are aware of z-coordinates for ground, if the part of the level is designed to be land. Also, mobs are somehow aware of water (they never run through water at you, do they?)

So how can we use our current mapfiles for the client to make the server respect them?
