Windows Server Repack (EQEmu Akka's PEQ Repack)
Day after day, I see so many threads of people having issues with their servers and trying to get one started or struggling to get a solid base together.
With all of my 7 years of expertise I have compiled a very precise, simple solution to getting a base PEQ server up and running and it takes as little as 2-5 minutes to install and get off the ground. It took a lot of time to get this repack right but here it is for all to use. Enjoy - Please post if you have used this and share how easy it was for you. as always, thanks for the hard work! i'm trying it out now :)

Hey long time since we last talked!
Thanks for this tool! Questions since I've been out for a while - What Everquest version is this for (UF, SOF, SOD)? What is the setting for eqhost.txt? looking fwd to getting this going! running t_start_server.bat, shows several dos windows open, but no text is seen in them - is that normal? Thanks, GeorgeS |
Amazing! My server finally up and running!
I created my character, and zoned in, but I'm floating in blue space in Mines of Gloomingdeep. Is this because I don't have a clean client or is there a bug here? Thanks again !!! |

This server will run Titanium/SoF/SoD/UF/RoF but UF is the most stable/recommended. RoF is mostly supported. The console doesn't show anything because that is how I setup the build options so that there isn't anything being written to logs, this burns up I/O. So yes this is perfectly normal. The only thing that currently writes to logs is crash events, given that this build is approved and known working, you shouldn't need to debug much. You can always replace the binaries with others if you dare to try something that isn't pre-approved. We're starting to work towards an approved 'stable' binary structure so that people can upgrade with as few issues as possible. |

Did you try another character? |
Titanium client here.
I tried another character and the same thing. I noticed when I logged onto another PEQ Repack server (I saw two on the server select screen, I didn't know if I was logging into mine or not) I had the same issue. Weird. |

Got the UF client, created a new toon, and it was in the correct spot.
Must have been a Titanium bug :-? Thanks again for this! |
Thanks again Akkadius
It works perfectly. (just needed correct Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998) GeorgeS |
Responding to the both of you, good to hear on both of those.

Error 1359 when trying to install package
Hello, has anyone had any trouble installing the package? I'm getting this error below when trying to install:
"Error 1359. An internal error occurred" I'm running win7 pro 64bit. Thanks. |
Im having this really nasty issue where the installer runs every time my windows starts up. Essentially I wanted to just check out the pack but when it tried to turn the first time it couldnt find some files. So i figured ok it was just a fluke Ill try it later. I deleted all the files but the installer will not go away and I cant get rid of it and it is pretty annoying to have this updater run everytime my computer starts.
Any clues Akkadius? Also one other issue is when the installer goes to execute I get "Error 1306" Another application has exclusive access to the file "C:\Program Files\MariaDB 10.0\data\mysql\innodb_index_stats.ibd". Nothing else is running on my computer that would access that file. This is the reason I tried to delete everything and start over but the issue above and this issue are preventing me from starting clean Now it is impossible to open any .rars or .zips the installer has hijacked the functionality of "unpacking" and I cant even unzip other files. This is so annoying, how to do i get rid of this thing.. P.S. Thanks for the setup of the pack, cant wait to try it out after I resolve this installer thingy |
Works flawlessly for me. Tried it on 3 different VMs, 2008/Win7/2012R2.
All good. |

Typically the installer will run every-time windows starts up if it is not meeting a condition it is trying to perform. Do you have any conflicting installs? Cause if you have individual components loaded it could conflict. When it is trying to access that file, it is most likely that MariaDB (MySQL) Service is already started and has that file open, try shutting off the service and hitting 'Retry' on the installer to let it do its thing. The other note is that the installer creates a restore point on your system if you have it enabled so if you wanted to go back to before when it was installed you should be able to do that as well. Let me know if any of this helps you. |
Akkadius,
#bots don't seem to work - is this something that is easily enabled or disabled? thank you! |

A separate repack would have to be made and bots are a huge headache from a stability standpoint. |
Does the repack install everything you need to run the server, then allow you to download the git repo and proper dependencies
to compile your own custom binaries? |

Thanks! |
Thank you
I just wanted to say thank you for doing this. I was having a nightmare with character tables not showing up and finally got to the point where I fixed it but then other character tables weren't there and I had finally given up.
This made my life so much easier. I really appreciate your hard work in putting this together. Just and fyi, it said I was missing the perl files, so I downloaded the most recent and installed it. This fixed the problem and server is running perfectly! Again, thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

So I am on Windows 8.1 64bit. I did discover the system restore point and went back to that. Maybe things broke when I tried to run the server before it was actually configured and that caused things to break. The most frustrating/odd part of this was the installer would run when I was just opening a .zip/.rar file thus overwritting my unpack. I will give your suggestions a shot tonight and get back to you. |

Sure there is some pain to deal with but it is much less than what you will find trying to configure a server without issues. |
Hello, tried it on a different PC....works great! Thanks for all your hard work!

Ah fair enough. I had done a fresh install of windows, so I wasn't sure when i had restarted.
*facepalm* |
My friend is having problems connecting to the server. Any ideas? I have all the required ports forwarded and such.
It is telling him to run the patcher. I can connect just fine. |

I'd also rather not bloat this thread with support issues that are not related to the repack. |

Hey akka. I installed your pak but i'm not sure how to connect to the server/get it to show up on the Eqeumlator list. I tried forwarding ports and even DMZ in the router.

Try changing the server name from the default as there is already on the server on the list with that name. |
thanks akka. I found out the reason i couldn't see it on the list was because i was using eqemulauncher and the list was not updated.
|
The first post says that the Mariadb is optimised - are there any pearls of wisdom in regards to that which could be applied to non re-pack installs?
|
Is there a way to run a local login server? My internet is 4G and is NAT'd on Verizon's network. It's impossible to reach my computer through the internet, without shelling out $500 for a static, routable, IP address.
|
We sourced in the load_login.sql and then just used the login server and crypto file from our old server. We really appreciate all of the work that has been put into this to ensure people have a trouble free setup.
|
Steve, have you looked at services such as DynDNS? These register your own domain with a dynamic IP, like you are using. There is even an Android app which will update the info for you.

I don't have any quick LS .MSI's but I could provide an easy setup guide unless someone else beats me to the punch |
