PEQ server has been down for 4 and half hours
 

Peq server went down for reboot at 4 am like it normally does but it never came back up. Usually only takes roughly 6 minutes for reboot. Something must be wrong Cave Dude.

yeah, web site down also so that mean the whole box is offline eh?

it'll be up eventually i do not doubt...unless...even now the zombie plague is spreading!!!! :shock:

Server went down during the backup process. My guess would be that the backup somehow got locked up, which has possibly overwhelmed the processor. This would bring down the website and the server as well as time out any ping. Might require a manual reboot of the server computer.

its been almost 12 hours now and peq server is still not up nor is the website working, is there an update somewhere that i missed? any infoz would be gretaly appreciated. :-x :-x :-x

theres a nasty riot going on in greece. nothing at all funny about that.

Actually not quite 24 hours, its been down since the backup which was 23:40 mins ago.

There was a guess that either it is hardware malfunctioning or just a lockup of the processor of some sort.

Cavedude is missing in action, hasn't been seen on this forums in 2 days. Also he isn't in IRC like normal.

Talk to a few people and no one has seen/heard him....

maybe he got hit by a bus >_<

um that sux he coulda got ate by unknowns zombies:shock:

I haven't spoken with FNW yet, if it's hardware he would be the first to know. But, my traceroute times out a few hops before PEQ so that suggests it may be ISP related.

Doh - thanks for the update!

I'll have to remember to try tracerouting in my troubleshooting. I made the mistake of assuming that because it happened right at the backup that it was an issue with the server.

Thank goodness if it's an ISP issue. At least we know then that the server is healthy. :D

Strange. My traceroute times out on projecteq.net's IP and not the ISP.

I could be wrong, but this kind of suggest that its a problem with the box. Might just need to be rebooted.

Or hit by a bus ... tho my idea is still plausible you could get hit by a bus and still survive.

He could have been eaten by zombies and is now posting as a zombie.

That would lend further credence to the hit by a bus theory. I mean, zombies are pretty durable.

I'm new to the server....and I have 0 complaints about the stability of the server. up until yesterdays backup all worked flawlessly except for the occasional lag.
My question is, have extended periods of downtime like this occurred before?
Im surprised more people arent posting wondering whats going on.
Any updates would be greatly appreciated, Im sure the respective parties in charge of keeping the server up are working their hardest to restore it.

It is frustrating though to not know what is going on.

My guess is that there's a problem at the ISP level for the server. Which would also explain the radio silence on what's happening.

Yeah if u have complaint, ask for acquittement.:D

This is a test server and shit can happen, for now nobody know whats going on so be patient and hope that wont take weeks :)

Ive been playing on this server for almost a year now and I have only seen server go down 1 time in that period. And that was because Obama was in the area and had stuff turned off in a general area. So to answer your question this does not happen often. To be quite honest Cave Dude does an outstanding job keeping up with problems overall. Keep up the good work CAVE DUDE !!
