Minilogin Help for Newbs
Code:
192.168.0.105 aaron aaronsword anyways, here's what your MiniLoginAccounts.ini should look like... yes, the actual file is CASE SENSITIVE :) anywho ensure there is a space after each entry... after the password.... you also need to make sure everything is entered in your DB under the account table. Also, make sure your user names are short... if you have long UID's it usually gives you a response xxxxunused... for example, my user name rubyrhinosaur would turn out to be rubyrhinunused which totally messes everything up, because you get stuck with eqemu account again and also, make sure your eqemu account is in the db under the accounts table as well. blah, almost forgot your IPs... the IP has to be matched to the computer that that user will be logging in from. anyways, if this doesnt help, ridicule me with hate and despair.... ciao |

Ok, I have no idea why this is, but my minilogin allows everyone and also FORCES everyone to log in under the eqemu account... I have added accounts to miniloginaccounts.ini, as well as DB, with appropriate logining in IP's and yet no matter what username/password combo anyone can log in, and it's always eqemu account... someone please help.
Thanks. |

Is MiniLogin working with the current release of EQEMU?
|
yes it works fine
|
This is very helpful, thanks a ton for the help. Solved all my problems. By the way, if anyone gets Error 1010, run the regular EQ patching thing, it'll download its own eqhost.txt. Go into that, and just cut the eqemu login/register things, and place them over the default ones. I then went to the end of each line, and noticed an extra space after login 1 and 2 and register 1 and 2. I deleted the spaces, and i didn't get any more error 1010. I dont know if this is the real problem, but at any rate thats exactly what i did and its fixed now

Some things I found out regarding minilogin
1) Minilogin ignores any station name/password combo you put into the eq client.
2) The IP address and station and password entries in the miniloginaccounts.ini are ALL that matter. 3) The IP address must be the IP address of the machine running the EQ client and the station name and password in miniloginaccounts.ini much match an entry in the "account" table in the database. (case sensitive) 4) Each entry in the miniloginaccounts.ini must have a trailing space after the password. 5) Processing goes like this: a. Minilogin ignores your station/password entered into the client but looks at the IP Address of client.. b. Minilogin checks if your client IP address is in the miniloginaccounts.ini. If not, Then minilogin defaults to 127.0.0.1 entry (eqemu/eqemu usually) If Yes, then minilogin passes the station name/password on the matching ip address line to world.exe for authentication. 6) If the station/password line in the miniloginaccounts.ini does not match an "account" table entry in the database, then you get an authentication failure error racked up on the world.exe window and you do not get in the game. |
I am assuming by this setup, it is impossible to play 2 accounts from the same PC. Any ideas how to get around the restriction?

Second account from same machine with Minilogin
It is possible to run a second account from the same machine using minilogin.
The only requirement is that the eqemu running minilogin machine is different machine. It involves doing the following: 1) Make a second IP subnet on both your windoze machine running eq client and on your eqemu server. Do this by adding a second ip address to each machine. In windoze, do it in the network properites->Tcpip->Advanced In Linux, do it by "ifconfig eth0:1" If your normal IP addresses are: 192.168.0.5 255.255.255.0 (Eqemu) and 192.168.0.6 255.255.255.0 (Windoze running eq client) then make your secondary addresses: 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 (eqemu secondary address) and 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 (windoze running eq client) Now, make a second instance of the eq client directory on your hard disk, and use a different eqhost.txt file for each instance, one on the first ip subnet (the primary one), another eqhost.txt file with the second subnet in the other. Finally, make 2 entries in your miniloginaccounts.ini. One with the first subnet, one with the second. Viola. You now can run 2 accounts on 1 windoze machine to the same eqemu server (seperate machine) using minilogin. Sorry it took so long to reply govtcheeze. Been kinda busy with RL. :D |
