Hail, an_Expansion07!
http://eq.crgaming.com/viewarticle.asp?Article=5243
CRgaming posted the updates from the eqstr_en.txt file. Apparently, there is a large expansion coming out soon. In past experiences, this has broken the emulator significantly. It is vital that you start backing up your everquest folders before the expansion comes out. The way you back them up: Find your C:\xxx\everquest\ folder. Make a copy of it! Yay! There is a new class mentioned: berzerker. Take a peek at the changes. As soon as the new packetcollector comes out (in the future - don't ask for it now! After the expansion comes out!!!), we will need volunteers to run it for opcode changes. I suggest that those who will be buying the expansion when it comes out get familiar with using the current incarnation of the packetcollector while it still works. It's hard working with a tool when you don't know how it was supposed to work. Play with it; get comfortable with it. If you can help troubleshoot it, Lethal will be your friend. |
From what I read in a magazine, it looks like the next expansion will have a huge upgrade to the graphics engine. From the screenshot I have seen, it looks amazing.
|
Lets hope that it's another downloadable expansion so that those uf us who don't play live anymore can get it :)
|
any links to screenshots?

Nope I read that they where redoing the graphics engine again for EQ as well.

That's interesting... isn't the before picture aviak city in South Karana? The 2nd picture could indeed look like a rework of kelethin and is very cool. Thanks for posting that, I hadn't seen that article.
|
dern i really hope you will be able to choose which graphics you want. i dont know if my computer can handle those.

We have known about this for a while ;)

Hey, I'm a little slow. I'm just warning people that they need to change their habits in preparation for the big patches that come before an upgrade like this.
|
Thanks, Guest, had no idea.

That second picture looks quite a lot like the engine for EQII. I think they mixed up their screenshots
|
What better way to beta the the EQ2 engine than to drop it in EQ1 and see what happens? millions of beta testers that way.
|
But i think that engine was one of EQ2's only selling points lol. All the people i talked to said they wouldnt get EQ2. They better not put crazy graphics in without the option to turn them off... else i may be absent from the emu scene for a while.

That was the exact screenshot I saw. Hopefully it was not the EQ2 shot. It would be nice to see the emu look that good.
|
But I love old graffics
When will people learn not to mess with a classic :(
Im a fan of the old eq look i really hope they have an option for this as well. (also think the new spell effects should be an option) oh well mabe it will knock my leggings off we'll have to see. P.S. anyone got anymore links to info ive been scouring for this for 2 weeks and that magazine page scan is all ive found out Thanks for that Link Merth what mag that out of??? (ok well back to figuring out whare world.exe is disapearing too every time i compile it  The best way to learn is to have no idea what the hell is going on :D ) |
im really thinking thats the EQ2 screen because the new expansion is going to be *less* memory intensive. Judging from that shot only high end rigs could run that
|
i would be disapointed if they used EQ1 as a giant beta, Oops that didn't work and such...
But i quit live becouse of the direction EQ was going in anyway... Kgaul |
yep. to be the best on eqlive meant putting in endless hours upon hours. Everyone was a loot whore. Why i quit too.
