Program GenRaTex Status and Help list.
 
Zones being converted.. and status

Program GenRaTex is in alpha and ready for testing.

Status's
Stage 1 is first 3 textures
Stage 2 is Textures 30 - 36
Stage 3 is Remaining textures and addition to DB


Zone - Usr - Status

Oasis - Omper - 0% stage 1
PotimeA - Omper - 100% stage 1--0% Stage 2--Implemented
PotimeB - Omper - 80% Stage 1
Akanon - Wumpas - 90% stage 1 - 0% stage 2
Steamfont - Wumpas - 50% Stage 1
PoStorms - Omper - 80% stage 1
Sleeper - Omper - 20% Stage 1

then the script i am writing to test all textures genders and races in all zones will be easier..

How is this script going to work? Unless I'm missing something, the only way you can tell if the texture works in the zone is to visually look at the model and see if the change worked.

I don't think it notifies you ingame if you try to use a texture that isnt loaded... or does it?

Texture is material. Last time I was aware of (4.4) you couldn't #texture on robes.

Only 0 = cloth, 1 = leather, 2 = chain, 3 = plate, 4 = monk.

There's a list somewhere, but you can get robes, velious textures, and custom helms -- but you have to test those through database.

You can't really make a script to check all the races/genders. Maybe if you could have it see if its a Human model.. but I don't see that happening. Cause in /who it'll show up Unknown, but some of the models that work show up unknown.

You really just gotta use common sense when it comes to guessing what works in what zones. You have your zone models, and your global models.

Look at all the NPCs in the zones. Those races will work, plus all the textures for that race. i.e: South Ro you can get 'Giants', but not just Sand Giant, you'll be able to get Ice - Hill - Fire.

Global Models are things like races, pets, spell effects, etc.

Necro: Skeleton, Lich
Enchanter: Invisi Pet, Illusions
Druid: Bear Pet, Tree Illusion
Mage: Element Pets <New/Old> (fire, earth, wind, water)
Wizard: Familiars
Shaman: Wolf Pet, Bear Illusion
Gods: All gods except PoP gods will show up globally. Such as old Innoruuk, Cazic-Thule, Old Solusek Ro, etc.

So on and so on, you get the idea.

As for genders. It's simple - 0: Male, 1: Female, 2: Neuter. If it's a playable race, 0 and 1 will work. If it's a non-playable race, then it'll have to be 2 or it won't work.

Exception: I'm not sure about that though.. there may be a few. Now that I think about it.. such like High Keep how they have the merchants and citizens in the other clothes.

Good luck writing the script though.. if you do get a list, it'd be handy for people to have.

here is the deal..

Races are not all global. some are only in some zones.. and some races change from zone to zone..

for instance Race 201 may be underbulk in echo caverns but something entirely different in another zone.. i have found this several times..

Second.. Textures are not based on clothing.. they are individual char bases for the races..

for instance. Race 18 texture 0 maybe a sand giant. texture 1 maybe a ice giant. so on and so on..

Third.. Genders are also different for some Race/Texture combinations.. ie the model for

Race 70 Texture 0 Gender 0 is a male zombie
Race 70 Texture 0 Gender 1 is a Female Zombie
Race 70 Texture 0 Gender 2 is a Male zombie / however it doesnt have to be..

so to sum it up .. there are a possible 10 million 800 thousand different models of mobs that you could have in any given zone..

YES that would screw things up.. but you could put any combination of those that are in the s3d files..

So what i am doing is going through each zone and taking pics of EVERY Race/Texture/Gender combo and putting in a DB.

Just so yall know where i am in this project..


I have someone writing some code for a simple Program that will display the JPG's.

I am currently in POtime collecting Pictures.. A first then B..

I am only doing the first 3 textures on stage one.
After all zones are done then i do stage 2.
Stage 2 consists of going through all visable's from stage 1 and doing a full scan on that race. all 36 textures..

Stage 3 is going to each zone and doing textures 30 - 36 .

Stage 4 is what falls inbetween

ok .. this project is HUGE.. Cant get it done by my self. I am asking for people to help..

Here is how..

First go get macroquest and compile it. You can get it here http://macroquest.sourceforge.net/main.php?p=download

Second get my Macro from here -->>http://home.ripway.com/2003-11/39797/spawn2.mac

Third get yourself a image conversion program. i use Image converter.. You can get here http://download.com.com/redir?pid=10...imgconvert.exe

ok .. now the fun stuff.

You will need to post here in this thread and say what zone you are doing.. ie .. PotimeA potimeB. etc.

Next you will need to get to a spot in the zone where you can f9 to see yourself like in this picture.

Next you will need to create that new chat window that you see and assign SAY to it.

Next change your resolution to 640x480 so the file size is small.. trust me you want to do this.

next do /macro spawn2.mac

Now sit back and watch it take the pics..

Once its done. you will need to open image conversion util and convert all pics to JPG's.

Now scan through the JPG's and delete all that are Human male or female.

Now crop the pic so that you see only the MOB and the chat window with the Race/tex/gen in it.. like this one

Now after that is all done.. please zip up all the new images (should be about 4k a peice) and msg me with the link to download.

I will put these in the Database for distribution.


OH! I forgot.. what you are doing is only the first 3 textures. not all 36.. The reason i did this is so that it would not be so large of a project for ya.. i will take your pics and go in and get the rest..

I would love to help with this lets assume I get through everything in "XX" zone how exactly do I put it up for download can I host a link on my own pc? cable conection not sure on speed of upload but i can usualy download around 200kb a sec.

Im going to compile everything and get going ill start on akkanon and move west acrossed faydwer I guess

Ill get akanon done today but starting now im only going to do this as I sleep wow it takes a LONG time lol i can imagine doing every combo youd need at least 10 pc's chuging for weeks

Expect 1 zone a day from me (if I can crop fast enough) for the next week im going to elpaso for 2 weeks nextweek tuesday but ill pick up again after that

omper, when you save the pictures in their final resting place, it may be a good idea to just replace the human males with a flag or something, like (invalid combination - human male). I'd hate those stupid human males to make 320megs of valid data turn into 5 gigs of data.

Nevermind - he already suggested deleting them. I think they should be marked down in notepad first, just in case you delete one that you should've kept.

and th image conversion does all the croping :D

So far down to 136 mb now im gona wash it through the croping function

p.s. 500 mobs

Not bad, 23MB... Multiply that times 150 zones and it's a 3GB master file. I don't think we'll be hosting that anywhere at that size. It will probably have to be resized to fit into any help file, or should be offered as thumbnails...

P.S. noticed a problem with your method when things like trees come along there to big for cammera to see if its zoomed in wnough to see the mobs. not sure what to do abotu this but its hapend a few tims in steamfont already

also you will have to remember that most of these zones will have repeats..

so if those pics that wump has are dups of some i already have then those will be deleted.. and the image will have both zones attached.. or all zones..

so .. for instance.. no globals.. those are being taken out.. second if say race 100 tex 10 gen 1 is duped in 5 zones.. i would have only one pic and 5 zone assignments..

so i am not sure how big this will get.. but hell i would think under 200 meg total..

anyway.. i am searching for a way to reduce the sizes now..

Hmm.. I guess if people wanted they could download selective Zones.. or if i knew VB a bit better it could be bilt in that you could load a zone from the Prog and it would then download from FTP with the coorisponding script. HMM..

Great idea Omper and steamfont captured now im gona crop and pack it

that image program you poined us to is very powerfull but it gets ugly when its doing 4500 images LOL I ofund its easier on it to convert to Jpg on run 1 and crop on run 2

P.S how many bits do you want us to convert the Jpgs to im using default 24bit Jeg i could go to 8 ??? ill experiment with the steamfont set but an official word would be great

here is the thing.. we just need to be able to see the target.. now remember that when the server goes to nighttime and you drop to 8 bit .. well you prolly wont be able to pick up the lighting..

FYI..

Do the more outlying zones rather then citys and newb zones.. they have spawns..

IE.. try to do POair.. or storm or earth.. those are good ones.. and the deep..

DONT DO THAT DAMM ZONE THAT IS OFF OF MAIDENS EYE OR THERE ABOUTS.. THE ONE THAT HAS THE ILLUSIONS GOING MAD.. ITS GOT ALMOST ALL THE TEXTURES..

ok .. so to make the image size smaller..


Image converter again..

Make the crpped image 220 by 360.. then after resize the images to 110 by 180 and that makes them 3k-4k in size.. thats the best we can do ..

that makes what was a 18 meg folder down to 456 KB .. btw that 456KB is Potimea.

hmm I used your exact mehtod as stated and im sitting at 13mb 23mb on disk and i cant read the class race texture type as it is too small. I guess ill go at it again i dont know what i did wrong did you delete all the non working ones from the list?

note: may have somthing to do with I croped my jpgs smaller not starting from originals ill try from the original bitmaps and go through and see what hapens.

no.. you did right.. you convert from bmp to jpg.. first pass

second pass is crop down to 220 by 360 size centered

third pass is resize to 110 by 180..

Ok omper I followed those steps again and in my chat box the wording is so distorted it cant be read are you just going to figure out what race combo it is by the file order or is there some way I can make the text larger when taking the screenshots?

note: I took all the Bmp's in 640x480 in windowed mode. Does windowed mode make a difference?

Im going to take teh POair shots in fullscreen mode just incase would it make the files larger after conversion if I used 800x600 or higher? Ive cleared 13GB on my HD.

i am renaming and loggin them before i do the final conversion..

so i think you are correct.. might just leave that last one to me..

OK.. tonight i am finalizing the web thing.. Mattmeck has been so kind as to lend me some web space to do this.. he is setting it up.. i will be setting up a ftp site for you to upload the images to me.. please stay tuned for further updates..

On a side note.. I am still looking for someone who is real good at VB to do some additional work with me on the prog.. i got some great ideas.. but dont know how to implement them..
