World Exe Problems

When I click world.exe ( everything is installed)

I get:

Loginserver.ini read
Suing databse 'eq' at localhost
Loading items...done.
Loading guild ranks...done.
World Server Listening on: port 9000

when my Loginserver.ini reads:

[LoginServer]
loginserver=eqlogin.eqemu.org
worldname=Your Server Name Here
locked=false
account=
password=
worldaddress=YourIPhere
loginport=5999

then when i open Boot5zones

world.exe continues onto:

"Unable to get the host name. Error 11004" over and over

then"New zoneserver #1 MYIPADRESSHERE

Can anyone help me? or tell me how to fix my problem?
Thanks,
Lokon

If you look at the guide to running a 5.x server it states

Quote:

loginserver=eqlogin1.eqemulator.net

NOT

Quote:

loginserver=eqlogin.eqemu.org

Any reason your using an ancient version of eqemu ?

0.4.4 ?

Mongrel 01-21-2004 03:24 AM

Maybe your DNS isn't working right?

"Unable to resolve host name" sounds like a DNS issue to me.

mattmeck 01-21-2004 03:49 AM

No its not a DSN its because he is trying to connect to the EMU login server with too old a version.

Mongrel 01-21-2004 04:49 AM

If the login server no longer accepts < 0.5.x servers then updating the server might be a good idea :)

Markorak 01-21-2004 10:04 AM

ok

Can anyone link me the website to get the updated one??

mattmeck 01-21-2004 10:06 AM

How about you look, there is at least 10-15 diferent threads here that tell you where to get it, because I personaly have been pointing people to it, its now time for people to find it for themselfs.

Re: ok

EDITed by Tertiary: I am tired of posting here and having my posts edited by Mattmeck. Bye.

mattmeck 01-21-2004 10:27 AM

Edited your post....shawn has people going to the first page so they will agree to his terms of use, giving out the direct link takes away from what he is trying to do.

mattmeck 01-21-2004 10:41 AM

That is pushed to CVS BUT it is not precompiled, the most recient precompiled binariens are 100% UNSUPPORTED, hence why there NOT avaluble under the files link.

here is the quote from the DL page for the most recient PRECOMPILED binaries

Last updated 1/12/2004
___________________________

1. Make sure you have the latest EQLive spells_us.txt in your EQEmu directory when using this release. Failure to do so may result in spell corruption in game.

2. This release supports the latest EQLive patch as of 1/12/2004. Do not use any other patches before or after this date.

3. You MUST source update.sql into your existing database. (Right click, save as)

4. NO SUPPORT WHAT SO EVER. If you do not know how to compile programs yourself or fix code, you have no reason to be using this. even though there is a pre-compiled version included.

Agree to these terms and continue to download DR2
so by giving out the direct link you are ensuring that people arent seeing or agreeing to the terms.

That last post is in responce to a post that Tertiary made then deleted.

got the same pb today :
Quote:

Error: LoginServer::Connect: Resolving IP address: 'Unable to get the host name. Error: Success'
solved it when removed the space at the end of the login server name in LoginServer.ini

it had been long ( 1week or so) since the server went on the WAN, so i'm not sure of config i used. Apparently everything else had been fine (pinging, ...)

Also i updated from CVS (latest version Feb 02 2004), so maybe there has been a change (did not check)

BTW, could not ping eqlogin2 nor eqlogin3 (DNS solves well, but no answer)

Last, but not least, please post to the Win32 AND Linux forum when it's not W32 specific ... Looks like Windoze if problem-prone, when you count the posts ;)

Im not sure this is the problem. It is just that in order to run windows, you need, ummm... well.... almost 0 knowledge. Most times when you run Linux you need to know something about what you are doing JUST to run it. That is not to say that all people running windows are not smart, just saying it requires that you learn less before jumping into something more advanced..
