Go to a command prompt, cd to where your zone.exe is and type:

Quote:

zone . 127.0.0.1 7995 localhost
(or whatever your IPs and port number are)

I.e. omit the 'start' command. This should allow you to see the error that caused it to close.

AcidBurn 01-18-2004 09:06 AM

didnt work

Just tried to take out the start and it still came up then went away right after :x

Tertiary 01-18-2004 09:08 AM

So you did Start/Run cmd

cd <wherever>

zone <params>

and your command prompt closed ? That is strange.

AcidBurn 01-18-2004 09:15 AM

Ok

ok sorry i did it wrong lol, this is what it came up with when i did it right:

panic: top_env is a perl problem. See this link or search for top_env on the forums.

EDIT: I see you are trying to run a 5.2 server. I assume you have the compatible client for that version and are not patched to live. 5.3DR2 is the most current and works with the current live client.

AcidBurn 01-18-2004 09:24 AM

hrmm

Kk i had the perl58.dll in the eqemu\bin folder cuz that was the only way it will work how exactly do i tell it that it is in the perl\bin folder, ill have to edit the boot5zones? and make tell it at the top? is that correct? if so i dont knwo the command for it.

Tertiary 01-18-2004 09:31 AM

I've not used the Perl build myself, but one of the posts says to make sure that your \perl\bin directory is at the start of your path, so you could try adding:

Quote:

set PATH=c:\perl\bin;%PATH%
to the start of boot5zones.bat (amending to where your perl\bin directory actually is). If that doesn't work, all I can suggest is searching the forums for Perl info, or waiting until someone else comes along who has used the Perl build and knows what to do. Good luck.

Try reading and doing what Lurker_005 says in the second post on this thread regarding IO::Scalar.

Code:

[Status] CURRENT_ZONE_VERSION: EQEMu 0.5.2
I feel stupid for not pointing this out but why arent you running 5.3?

AcidBurn 01-18-2004 10:46 AM

trying

going to try that now, if i didnt need the quest and stuff then i dont even have to bother with perl and all teh hassel it is givening me right ?

mattmeck 01-18-2004 10:55 AM

I may be wrong but I assume that Perl is intigrated into the binaries so you need perl to run the server.

AcidBurn 01-18-2004 12:49 PM

ok

Ok i got the windows to stay open now only prob is loggin on im only useing this for my resource no one else would be loggin on to it but i changed the host.txt and all that got me past one error then i hit another i changed the host again and got past that now i get a error but there is no number it only says EQEmu bad name/password and i have no clue how to fix it, searched through alot of forums and all i saw was ones that were having progs loggin on to other servers not there own, and ideas on this ?

Lurker_005 01-18-2004 05:37 PM

Well it looks like your past rpoblems with IP's but if your running everything on a single computer, all your IP's should be 127.0.0.1

Are you using minilogin? If so you need to read some of the minilogin threads.
If not, make sure you have EQ setup to login to the EQEmu login servers (eqhosts.txt file in your EQ dir) and that you aren't patching EQ when you start it (eqgame.exe patchme)

AcidBurn 01-18-2004 06:00 PM

hrmm

I tried adding the patchme and it didnt help at all, only thing i wanna be able to do is log on the server i have set up on the same comp i changed all IP addys to the 127.0.0.1 and it didnt help with the message it gives me after i try an dlog on to the servers,
EQEMu Error: Bad username/password

i have no idea how to fix it me and my buddy looked throguh the forums to day to try and find out but no luck all they were was ones that were trying to log on to the eqlive servers and not on there own server :x

kathgar 01-19-2004 06:30 AM
