Just a tip :)

Don't patch ... EQEMu doesn't work with the GoD stuff right now.. so ya its better to not patch

Vertilious 02-10-2004 09:32 AM

I heard the patch also fixed the broken server thing. Where people try to log onto the server and the client crashes it also fixes that but i think it still breaks the EQEMU

Monrezz 02-10-2004 09:33 AM

It fixes the EQEmu login bug/client crash, but breaks EQEmu? Well that's just dandy :D

I'm guessing it's going to be a bit of work as it's a whole new expansion, not just a major patch. Good luck :)

LOL just when you REALLY DO need it....

Ndrangheta 02-10-2004 10:48 PM

oh crap, the only reason i patched was to get a few files i deleted because i was having problems with my vid card and now it dun work??? any ways i can fix this? like maybe delete the files that i downloaded to patch and someone send me the old ones? in a package or zip?

hittman 02-11-2004 01:42 AM

The everquest files I had were to old (remember the eqemu patcher), so I patched yesterday. Well, apperently now my files are to new. Any way I can get the file set that will work or do I just have to wait?

ltlruss 02-11-2004 01:54 AM

Afraid you'll have to wait.... can't ask for the old files, that's asking for warez and is a bannable offence... The ETA for the fix is when it gets done, so don't bother asking. After it gets fixed, it helps to make more than one folder too. I actually have 3, one that I play all the servers but WR, one for WR and one that I can patch and check incase the patch breaks it. Well, hopefully you won't be waiting too long... Sorry :(

hittman 02-11-2004 01:57 AM

OK, no biggie... Just makes me have to wait...

Monrezz 02-11-2004 02:04 AM

I have 2 directories, a backup directory and the EQEmu directory.

To play on the WR one I created a directory in the EQ directory called WRFiles. I then created a .bat that will copy all files from WRFiles to the EQ directory, and then run the game.

This saves you around 2Gb, and is much quicker to use. Just have a directory for Original Files and WRFiles, that way you can restore them for playing on a normal server.

I'll paste the contents of the .bats when I get home if you want.

Actually that wont work (in normal cases it would.

The reason it wont work for hittman is because his eq was too old to start with, if he restores back to earlier, he STILL cant play, because it is not compatible with the newer servers and db's.

The reason that Ndrangheta wont be able to play is because he deleted some files that caused it NOT to work. Doing a system restore on this would NOT bring back the deleted files unless they are still in his recycle bin. System restore ONLY restores an earlier version of the system registry but NOT the files that used to be on the computer. So if the files are gone, they are gone for good.

As far as Loosnut, I assume you werent talking to him becuase someone suggested that system restore worked for them right after he posted.

I assume you meant to put the patchme line in BEFORE you actually try and run eqgame.exe, because running this without having patchme in there will give you a "Please run Everquest.exe" error.

Sorapis 02-11-2004 07:55 AM

:\

Sorry if i sound like a noob here but i cant find anything in the forums about this problem im haveing trying to create a new player when hiting the next butten on the create character screen the computer freezes and wont create the new character is anyone else haveing that problem?

Monrezz 02-11-2004 08:02 AM

Ummm, wrong forum bud. :)

Shazz87 02-11-2004 08:03 AM

hmm i didnt patch it and i did everything u said to do...it still says please run everquest. i probably dont have the right version so im probably goin to end up waiting for the stuff to come out....i just really want to play again.

Monrezz 02-11-2004 08:07 AM

Are you using eqgame.exe with patchme, not EverQuest.exe? Search the forums or look in the stickies, I'm sure your problem has already been discused and fixes posted. Otherwise, yes your version is probably incompatible with the Emu.

This is in the wrong forum. Please post in the right forum for help on this in the future.

The problem you are having is becuase you did NOT create the shortcut properly.
delete the shortcut on your desktop to eqgame.exe
open up windows explorer
find the file eqgame.exe in your backup directory (ie.. EqEmu)
right click on it
choose sendto>>dekstop/create shortcut
close everything out
right click on the new shortcut to eqgame.exe
choose properties
to the line under "target" add a space and then the word patchme (without quotes)
click apply
click ok
now double click on the shortcut and you are there..
Enjoy!

Shazz87 02-11-2004 09:21 AM

ok i do this before or after updating?

khuong 02-12-2004 10:48 AM

Redskull 02-12-2004 04:37 PM

Arg I patched. How do I do a system restore? do i need a special program?

Everytime I go to log onto the server it says error 1017

eristhule 02-13-2004 12:26 PM

ACK! i patched!

Luckly... (hero music) Dell Backup comp to the rescue!

I have all my old EQ files on my dell. =P

Chicomalo 02-13-2004 01:08 PM

Something that really sucks, I needed to do a Windows XP File Repair cause dude to some websites I been working with. I have been having problems viewing them and also other sites which sucks. Well that is the the worse of it yet.

As I run the Windows XP Pro CD to do the file repair it run fine and good however, when it get to the part that say 39min remaining under windows installation. It say stock there and dosen't move at all. Not even the Hard Drive light come up. LOL! I say to my self oh  &%*$(#!!!! So, I try a few times and nothing happens. Same old thing so, that leave me with no choise but to re-install Windows XP Pro back again all Fresh. LOL! The Good thing is that my system run faster now. The bad thing is that, I lost everything. Meaning ( EQ Dir with the patch from before Feb 10th, and everything else inside there) Alone with my Valentine Project that I was making for my girlfriend which I will have to pull a fast one here and see if I can remake it or come up with something fast. :?

So, I guess saving your files into back ups are very importan as I save my importan backups but not my EQ Dir and My lastest projects. Bah!

Hehehe, What a Valentine Holiday for me. Hope things will turn out good. As I know I will not be able to install EQ and run EQEmu for a while until is compatible with GoD.

joshuaes 02-14-2004 04:27 AM

What if?

What should i do if i patched and downloaded the new GoD stuff? how can i play Eqemu again?

Holy_Templar 02-14-2004 05:07 AM

Wait till EQEmu catches up. Dont bother asking when that will be, unless you want to be beaten with a metal pipe.

sovietax 02-14-2004 05:11 AM

A metal pipe....that it? more like a metal spiked pipe. :)

Holy_Templar 02-14-2004 05:13 AM

Well I was trying not to be too mean. But yes, your idea sounds like more fun.

Try using the #movechar command... Make a new char, then when on the new char type #movechar <toonthatisstuck> <zoneyouwantthemtogoto>.... You will see a message that says "character successfully moved." or something like that.
