So is it ok to patch or did EQEmu stop working after patch?

fadine 03-24-2004 05:13 AM

Don't patch, I'd recommend, Unless you make an EQEmu folder which should've been done when you first started playing.

The patch f***ed up alot of things within the game, so I'd just recommend avoiding that.

zackt 03-25-2004 04:59 AM

patching should be fine if you really have to...I talked to a couple people who said it worked fine, also my brother patched and his worked fine.

roccox 03-25-2004 03:40 PM

Well the problim im having after i patced is everytime i target a mob my game freezes and i have to restart comp . cause i guess sony added life % to mobs names

napalmsquirrel 03-26-2004 12:33 AM

If I patched am I screw0r0d?

Being screw0r0d sUx0rz

ndnet 03-26-2004 12:48 AM

I'm patched to live (Mar. 25th) and run fine. Many of the updates to the client lately are in the graphic side of things, which is also causing quite a few system crashes.

As an additional note, EQW is now updated to work with the latest patch.

Dhaos 03-26-2004 05:55 PM

im confused. image says not to patch, yet people are saying they have no problems patching. i dont want to do anything i will regret since i dont have enough space to make a backup of eq. Are the current eqemu servers working with this patch?

Xabob 03-26-2004 06:04 PM

I know That ppl say patch well yes you could i don't cuz you never know what they all do exsactly untell a Dev says yea go ahead and patch i would not risk it

DeletedUser 03-27-2004 09:51 PM

They changed a few things actually nothing that is going to majorly hurt you, their sky (along with weather patterns) have changed, so if you patch to live the game will be rather foggy for you :P

slacker8616 03-28-2004 03:25 AM

I just got EQemu up and running, however when I try to log into a server I get "EQgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" - Im unsure of what to do about this, however I HAVE been able to log into a server 2 out of the prolly 80 attempts...Is there a way I can fix this?

Much thanks

toffie 03-28-2004 05:36 AM

I'm waiting for Intel to exchange my CPU so I can't test for the moment...
but what I know is that EQEmu servers don't want to run with
Sonys latest update on EQ??

so... what for me to do??
I don't got any EQ that is before the patch...

I mean... I got all the packaged and so on CDs...
but I don't got it on my puter... so when I install and start
it will automatically patch right??
Don't remember that much =/

well anyways... hope you got me any answers ;)

NarutoLegacy 03-28-2004 07:09 AM

Im just gonna wait until the OK is let out to patch.

nilar 03-28-2004 07:24 AM

I've heard from a lot of people that they can still play EQEmu with patch if they use the eqgame shortcut and add patchme. I think EQW released a new version that works with patch too so that should work also. If you have no other options then just go ahead and patch and see if you can get it to work. Only way to find out for sure.

toffie 03-28-2004 07:51 AM

ok... EQW = Everquest World ?
where to find that then??

sorry for my questions... but I'm pretty new ;)

<<- *check the newbie* :p

nilar 03-28-2004 07:57 AM

EQW = Everquest Windows

Its a program for people that 2 box on EQlive. It automatically adds the patchme to the end of eqgame.exe so it can be used to play EQEmu too.

toffie 03-28-2004 08:00 AM

oh ok thank you :)

Monrezz 03-29-2004 05:20 AM

Patched to 29/03, replaced eqhost.txt and can connect fine to 5.5 servers. Have DX9, everything works fine no crashes. Also on nVIDIA Chipset, needed a graphics driver update but that's all.

toffie 03-29-2004 07:28 AM

ok... just stupid question but ;)
it shouldn't matter what nVidia card or any other card you have??

as my GF2 Ti card don't run DX9... it still can have the latest drivers right??
I'm a little too tired to understand... :P

Jezebell 03-29-2004 07:36 AM

thats correct

RexChaos 03-29-2004 07:36 AM

If it doesn't run DX9, then I'm pretty sure you're out of luck. I think that GF2 should work though. It may not FULLY support DX9 instructions, but I think it should work for playing EQ.

But while we're on this talk of upgrades to EQ's engine...anyone else agree with me when I say that they're upgrading the WRONG stuff? The models and spell effects look good...now what about this world that looks like it was slapped together with play-doh? When are they gonna upgrade THAT!?!?

toffie 03-29-2004 07:39 AM

ya it did work with EQ before...
I've run it pretty good... highquality and highresolution...
only in bazaar perhaps there could be some lag ;)

ltlruss 03-29-2004 07:41 AM

As far as the GF2 goes, I have a GF2 TI 64MB and DX9 works on it... I'm not sure if different versions would make a difference or not though.

toffie 03-29-2004 08:00 AM

okies ltlruss

I got a GF2 TIvX 64MB Tv-Out card...
from Inno3D... have been working great...

but not the last few days though... green lines comes and goes...
like 1-2px wide with 2px space between... really annoying ;)

gotta buy me a new GFX card before I can play EQ again :(
well tnx for all the info!! :)

Not sure it this will help, but I used to have a similar problem with my GF 2 GTS card... Try turning off trilinear filtering... make it double or single....

toffie 03-29-2004 08:25 AM

ok... but I just got it the last few days :?
but sure... it's worth a try... I test it after work tomorrow :)

gotta sleep now...

It doesnt matter if you got it brand new today, if there is a driver or DX imcompatability it will do this everytime... If it IS a hardware problem, then it is good that you just got it a few days ago...:)

toffie 03-30-2004 04:14 AM

ok... but I haven't updated to DX9 drivers just a few days ago...
that was perhaps 1 month ago or something...
when I reinstalled windows ;)

RexChaos 03-30-2004 04:20 AM

I'm playing eq patched after 3/25/2004 on my laptop. I have a Radeon Mobility 7500 and drivers that aren't the newest, but within the last 6 months. Works fine. I think it runs better after this last patch. It definitely looks nicer at least. :)

toffie 03-30-2004 06:11 AM

that sounds great for me :)

and that sounds also good for all of us that haven't got any
backup from before the backup... so it's ok for us to go on patching :)

Abiien 04-03-2004 11:51 AM

umm uh oh

i patched and im still fine is that bad?
