Check to make sure you have no spaces.

Littlekill1 06-09-2004 05:46 PM

i am posotive there an no spaces in there.. i just dont understand..

If you are in Europe , you cannot use the new login servers. However, Europeans just get a "Your EQHost.txt could not be found" error message . I'd say check for spaces, do a complete file check when patching, and try over and over and over...

Good luck

motamuffin 06-13-2004 05:31 AM

I found out the problem on the main page the

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995

has spaces put this in your eqhost file and it should work

redguyone 06-14-2004 03:44 PM

ok, my eqhost has NO SPACES and i'm patched to the most curent one available via eqlive. when i try to log on eather the program just crashes or it gives me a message that the program did something bad and needs to be shut down. i have tryed reinstalling and everything else recomended as well.

Littlekill1 06-15-2004 06:46 AM

im glad im not the only one with this problem, but i think it has something to do with the new login screen.. hopefully something will be figured out. I know its new so it may take time.

Ive found out that if ur eqhosts.txt is Read only, this may cause it to crash ive tested this by makeing it Ready only, and Editable, and it crashed when it was read only and didnt when it was editable.
Only variable i tested.

So also toggle the Read only Check on that file. Maybe that will fix it.

redguyone 06-15-2004 10:01 AM

tryed that, didnt work for me.

Jile 06-16-2004 03:56 PM

lolz~ ok so i kept getting the xp mitchell thing too. tried making it readonly with

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995

didn't work. made it

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995

didn't work, changed to the xp mitchel thing. ran it in windowed mode with
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995
NOT read only. it works.

blake189 06-16-2004 04:16 PM

Yeah, CTD on login sucks. I'm having the same problem.

Littlekill1 06-19-2004 07:59 AM

guess we will have to wait for them to figure out a real way to stop this.

phasepuma 06-22-2004 01:59 PM

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995<---no space after this.

That is how I got mine to work, and the file is read only

Littlekill1 06-23-2004 04:06 PM

still does not work

numadin 07-09-2004 10:53 AM

Ok, I was having the problem with the eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and must close error. I made sure there were no spaces in the eqhost.txt. I no longer have the error, however, after typing in the username password I get to the Logging in to the server, please wait... and then nothing happens. Perhaps I'm making a newb mistake now, but can anyone help?

Thanks!
