Does eqemu eliminate monthly fees? im semi confused lol
 

Eh im confused. I have purchased EQ but im always broke so im putting it on hold cuz of the monthly fees. Do these servers let u play for free on them without monthly fees (yes i have eq evolutions) or do u still pay and also get to play on unique servers?

Heh thanks for ur input everyone! i gotta unistall everquest cuz i got the updated version...so hwo do i keep it from patching? usually it does it r ight on start up

i think eqemu works with live now anyway.. if not use a patcher to patch you to the version you want to play. (theres 2 versions. winters roar and everyelse)

Yeah heh i went under uninstallshield last week and uninstalled it, and i just put the remaining files in the recycling bin, didnt clear some of them. So i do gotta actually install something? thought i just had to chance a log or something?

wat version do u all use with eqemu? i can probably google it rather then auto patch and risk it not working

use www.wintersroar.com and there patcher, its the most newb friendly, and the best server your gonna find.

That's right.. With 5.8DR-1 release around the corner, come try it out with your live patched client.

Here is what you need to do:

1 - Reset Authorization
First you will need to reset your "authorization". You'll need to do this only once, unless eqlive changes the key they use in the client or if you want to change your password. Point your browser to the following age to reset it.
http://www.eqemulator.net/eqresetauthrequest.php

The login/password you enter here is what you would normally enter on the loginserver. It is not your forum account name and password.

Notice it has your IP listed. This is only needed in resetting your authorization. Once your authorization is updated, you can log in to the login server from any IP (see below).

2 - Login to EQ
First, change your eqhost.txt to:

Host=eqemulator.net:5996

Then you will need to log in to the login server from EQ from the same IP as you connected to the authorization reset page . This is very important. After this, what ever IP you want to connect to the login server from is fine.

3 - Enjoy 5.8DR-1
When you get to the login server, you will probably only see one server at this time, "EQEmu Official Test [Non-Legit]". Feel free to login and test it out and report bugs.

X - Running your own 5.8DR-1
Once 5.8DR-1 is released, make sure your LoginServer.ini points to the new loginserve as well:Code:

This is very beta, so please let me know of any bugs with the login server. EQEmu 5.8DR-1 bugs can be reported on the forums.[/code]

no. you just use the wr patcher dude.

those are instructions for a beta server that's just testing out eqemu being compatible with live. thats not the server you want if your just looking for a legit free eq server.

oh that thing will change everything for me? like adding that line that says patchme and that kinda stuff?

dont need to add that line etc with wr. you just run the patcher and click play when its done patching you.

Aye i guess im not through the woods yet. When i try to start the game up after trying to make a char it says it detects that i have crashed recently and it wants me to send in my information including the server im playing on...i have a feeling i dont wanna tell them im playing on this free server and if i say no the game closes and does this again wen i start up...wat should i do?
