Winters Roar down? June 24
 

Well, i searched in many places to see if it was down or something but i didnt see anything, so can anyone tell me if it is?

I cant get to the website and the patcher just hangs looking for the server, and i dont see anything bout the login server being down anywhare either.

No, that was yesterday.

Can anyone get on as of now? I tried opening it manually, but it still can't find the server.

it looks like their account might be locked for some reason.

I'm on atm and the website is up. Just not through the normal means.

FYI, posts like this belong in server discussion or off topic. This is specific to a server, not eqemu in general.

Then what is the purpose of general discussion? If a topic comes up people respond. Quit trying to police every single topic, it's ridiculous. And no, I don't care how many posts you have.

I went to the address given Oscar, but is there a way to actually play on WR as of now? I'm not that great at the technical stuff so please be patient :-P

Hehe np. You should be able to avoid the patcher by going straight to eqgame.exe.

should I edit the eqhost file to the address you gave me? and when I try running eqgame.exe, it tells me to run Everquest.exe first, but that could be overcome by running eqwindows, I guess.

You shouldn't need to change your eqhost file.

I tried that, but it can't connect to the server :-/

If you have more trouble look in the above thread. My boss is eyeing me like I stole something lol so I'm trying to respond discreetly. Hes a government guy and I'm a contractor so it's basically like Ogres and Wood Elves....

I never had any trouble connecting before, but now it just won't connect...like it worked perfectly last night.

I had the same issue. Go to the word document that came with the new patcher and try inputting that IP I gave you. Also change http://wintersroar.com to www.wintersroar.com.

I couldn't find the word document in the zip file and do I put the ip into the eqhost file?

Did you get the new patcher that was just released? If not check that tech forum link I posted.

Btw, what did you do just incase lol.

I was having the same problem accessing the WR website as well as the server server hang. After reading here, and finally being able to access the forums I found the following post which fixed my problem.

DNS is having problems. it's not resolving wintersroar.com but is resolving www.wintersroar.com. It's working for some because their running off of cached DNS.

Add these 2 files to your hosts file:

67.15.24.48 wintersroar.com
67.15.24.48 www.wintersroar.com

The hosts file is normally in:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Wll friggan sorry for puting this in the wrong place, i kinda figured it might have been a "general" becouse its a spicific server and not amuch or anything. whatever.


Anyway, the DNS thing helped me with what i needed.

At the moment, these two links will redirect to the site, though the forums aren't in good working order unless you manually patch your Windows host file.

http://wintersroar.crystalinfinity.com - Will always redirect to Winter's Roar in such a case occurs again

Hmm, how do you even get the new patcher ? It just doesn't work when i try to download it. Do you really need it ? I really want to play WR now, heh.

FYI: Regardless of what Winters Roar forums allow/disallow, these EQEmu forums don't allow linking or requesting links to patch files or patchers.

The forum rules prescribe a ban anywhere from 1 week to PERMANENT for this. This ban could be from just these forums, or could also be from the WR logon server as well -- at the eqemu admins' sole discretion.

You'd have to ask us or hack WR's box to ban anyone from our loginserver. :p

i am also havin some trouble downloading the new patcher... so hopefully the forums are fixed soon and all will be well=)
