eqgame.exe problem

ok, i login into eq the server's show up. then it freeze's, and a window pops up saying "there was a problem with eqgame.exe it has to close" any help would be hot.

sake

taguila 05-10-2006 02:51 PM

It also happening on my friends and my other computers.

We are also experencing the same thing where eqgame.exe crashes. We have both the patched and the titanium client. The thing that I noticed is there is a server out there which shows allot of people like in the millions before it crashes. Maybe it has something todo with that causing the problem during login. Just a hint dont' really know, but if you try enough times we evetually get you into the server. Lets say 10 tries or more then we eventually get in. Today it did on my 30th try.

Application Log

Looked in Application log and found this.

Faulting application eqgame.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

Are you getting the same error?

Happens to me also, I also am thinking that it's because of those servers that show up with 1 million+ users.

BFC 05-12-2006 04:04 AM

This is happening to everyone I know that has 7.0 clients. Anyone have a fix or explanation for this? This wasn't happening until very recently. Up until this week I believe there were no issues logging into public servers with the 7.0 client.

I have trouble logging in with the 6.2 client as well, just not as often.

Any devs out there able to comment?

Solved

I think we figured out this problem.

It seems the login is a bit sensitive to clock frequencies. All the systems that I know that had trouble logging in are now able to log in once they reduced their clock speeds some.

So, if you are over clocking any reduce your speeds some and it might get you going.

good luck,

Same Problem?

As soon as I click the EQ Icon this is happening to me, eqgame.exe has encountered an error... I'm running Titanium, my friend bought Titanium last night, same deal with him. Everything seems to be in order and lowering clock speed was ineffective. Thoughts?

BFC 05-13-2006 06:14 AM

I wish I knew what to tell you. Clock speed helped with us but we do still get an occasional crash.

I haven't seen a comment from a dev on this issue or the opcode issue. Only issues support seems to be available on are general configuration issues that are pretty simple.

I'm to the point where I'm willing to pay someone to help fix this.

I get that same error - usually when I start up a second client..
What I do is type in soandso for account name / pass, then tab down to quick connect, hit enter (to log in) then quicky alt tab to another process (usually my other eqgame client)

Tends to work 50% of the time - for a few days worked everytime.

Might help ya, might not, some people this cures it 100%, other people it does nothing.

meverah 05-15-2006 11:43 PM

none of these solutions are workin for me :(

meverah 05-16-2006 12:50 AM

well as it turns out my little bro patched eq yesterday on may 15th :( i knew i shoulda made an extra copy of the exe file :( lol guess im screwed for a while.

Titanlock 05-16-2006 12:51 AM

other post

-i hope soon (scott)

meverah 05-16-2006 01:23 AM

well guess ill be waiting a while :(

meverah 05-17-2006 02:30 AM

quik question, since the problem im having is because my little bro patched on may 15th, whats the usual time length on emu working with this patch version? or are we switching to just the titanium support?

Belfedia 05-17-2006 07:19 AM

Eqemu live compatible ? i think that take long time. Devs make titanium compatibility to avoid "live chase" and work on bugs first.

Updating to live compatibility could be a month or it could be never, its all upto when the Developers can figure out how to get that client to work.

Your best bet it to buy the Titanium box set.

God of Fear 05-17-2006 09:25 AM

lets keep this thread on track. I am curious to find the answer to this as I am experiencing the same problem (eqgame crash with music in background). there are plenty of other threads for the other problem

God of Fear 05-18-2006 07:48 AM

is yours locked too?

anyone else notice that their server says locked but you can still login (until eqgame comes up with that message). I want to confirm that everybodys says this to the right of the server name when you login (dont use quickconnect)

God of Fear 05-18-2006 08:18 AM

nvm

was a fluke. it always says "1" now

groon_d 05-18-2006 10:49 AM

Well i seem to get the same problem i can get to the server select screen but it does not matter what server i pick. Game freezes up and I have to use task manager to get rid of it.

Anyone know what i need to do i have titaium with out any updates.

God of Fear 05-18-2006 03:11 PM

Found The Problem

its with dark rogues server pack. download the latest build of the emulator from this site and do it manually

Bernat 05-18-2006 08:45 PM

I don't know if it's just superstition :), but I'm following a procedure that has prevented me from having this error so far since I started doing it.

It's as simple as re-loging in before closing eq after exiting a server. So, you want to stop playing: /camp and exit the server. Then it kicks you to the login screen (or at least it kicks me), so just log in back to the server selection screen, and then hit exit again and close EQ in a friendly way.

Hope it helps someone else :).

Adrianne 05-28-2006 12:01 AM

Im not overclocking and Im getting this problem. I think my comp is too fast or something:P As soon as the server list pops up, mouse freezes, then get a message like you guys are getting, saying has to close. I open debugger and get this message:

Unhandled exception in eqgame.exe (EQMAIN.DLL) 0xC0000005: Access Violation

So is it the eqmain.dll thats the problem? or is it the login server?

vales 05-28-2006 09:30 AM

I just had this problem last night and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to fix it. I read Angelox's solution here. Even after I deleted the whole text file and it made a new one, it was still crashing. So I edited out the following and it worked fine. Make sure you back up your existing one just in case.

1.) Go into the directory where you installed EQ.
2.) Locate eqlsPlayerData.ini and open it. You should see these entries.

Quote:

[MISC]
LastServerID=20 (Server ID)
LastServerName=[0.7.0] (The server name you last played)
3.) Just delete the red text So there's only a = and nothing after it.

I think it has an issue with refreshing the server orders, so when it tries to match up the server id and name, it kicks you back out. I don't know if this would be the case, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to share my experience and solution.

marco820 05-30-2006 09:03 PM

Hey :)

I had similar problem when I tried to run the game with my new laptop sony vaio and the solution was :

1 Running OptionsEditor.exe ( eq client folder....)
2 Deselect ALL settings
3 Loggin into eq with old graphic.....Funny
4 Camp
5 Restart Launcher
6 Changing settings ( video,texture...)
7 and log in !!

If it can help you........ let me know !

Adrianne 05-31-2006 03:53 PM

Unfortunatly none of these solutions seem to help at this point.. They might work very rarely, but tahts about it:(

Bernat 05-31-2006 10:44 PM

I've been using Vales' solution for more than a week and it's worked always, so far. I don't have titanium, maybe it doesn't work with titanium.

Adrianne 06-02-2006 08:13 AM

Thought Id post my solution. I log in after using his solution.. well, actually deleting the file, then when I go to hit enter after entering my password, I just hit enter like 5 times really fast, it logs me into the selected server, then I just log out and it works.. most of the time.. if it doesnt, you can hit enter after entering your pass, then hit esc a few times.. so it logs you into login for a sec.. then try again.. that works too for me..

I realized this helps sometimes - this could be part of the problem, but I think there's more to it. Lately, It just starts doing it and no matter what I do, it stays the same - then all of a sudden, it starts working again. It's frustrating, because I spend a lot of time, just trying to get past the login server.
I've also done what you have, and still get the crash. Maybe we're just messing with it so much, when it decides to work, we happen to be deleteing a file or changing, so we think it was that.
