New progression server - Gnomish Proving Grounds
Hi there. I am just doing a little shout out for my new server, Gnomish Proving Grounds.
It is a progression server currently in the original era. I plan to let it get to Velious and linger there for a while. Once Velious is defeated, based on server sentiment, we will start over or maybe add Luclin if people can't give up their chars or maybe just Luclin AA. We absolutely under no circumstances will go beyond PoP and if people eventually beat Quarm (or sandbag), the server will reset. It has increased exp to help move things along, but not cheapen the experience. To keep up with the increased exp, I have doubled the drops across the board. So if you would have 1 FBSS drop originally, now you would have 2. This should help equip people at an appropriate pace. I have also added minor stats to cloth and ringmail (average of +2 for each item, usually +1 to 2 different stats). Ringmail and cloth drops off of newbie mobs. I have set god loot drops to be in line with original eq (for now, given that we are in original era). Once people are ready to go to the planes, they will be required to use my custom spells file. For those of you who are apt with reading the spells file, I request that you not reveal the difference. I would like it to be a surprise at least in the beginning. If the server becomes more popular I am prepared to build a dedicated server and get increased bandwidth - so don't worry about it getting laggy. At this time I am not accepting donations. If this changes, I will keep all donations on public record along with all expenses that have been incurred. Donations will not be for profit and I will not accept them if none are needed. There will be no favors for donors at this time. |
I am also adding some little additions such as mythical creatures from old world that were removed along the way... all with original drops or in the case of gm controlled creatures, new drops that are appropriate considering the expansion they are in.

If you'd like some free SQL contributions, PM me. I keep all mine ready to pass around, you're more than welcome to sift through and implement anything you'd like. Depending what database you're starting from, it might save you the trouble of having to filter out NPCs that were placed into old zones.

I started with PEQ. I was going to use angelox's db but by the time I had it in my hands I already had PEQ running and had done quite a few changes on it. Where can I see what you have done so far? I have been cleaning out fableds from spawn tables and such so far. |

Hello all, I started a new character (dark elf) on this server today and was enjoying the old school feel with just that little bit extra (increased exp and drops etc..) to make the game fun again, but I do have a bit of a problem...Nektulos Forest is a black void. I can go into the zone and continue to walk around but it is just black and I can see NPC's in the distance falling through the world. I tried to just walk back into the city but I couldn't.
So I made a High Elf to see if the Faydark was the same, but nope...it worked just fine. Odd. EDIT: Duh, forgot to add that I logged off and back on but it was still the same, like I was stuck at the end of time and space. |
Dirtyswan, its a simple fix in your EQ Folder find a file called "Nektulos.eqg" and rename it to "Nektulosa.eqg.bak" (Have to exit out of game compleatly and come back in.. but that should fix it if i recall someone please correct me if im wrong

Quick bump, yes Nektulos map file has to be changed form .eqg to .anything.
Progression is moving smoothly as we get tons of new people every day. Currently dead are Naggy,Vox,Phinny,Fear Golems and some other mini bosses. Still a few bosses away from Kunark some come check it out! Stout 50 Dwarf Paladin Styin 50 Human Monk Rikrash 50 Barbarian Shaman |

Is there any GMs that i can talk to about my character being deleted or disapearing? Please! Would like to get back to leveling! Love the server and what you have done with it so far, also in lower guk, my character kept getting stuck in the corner by assasins room, curious if that is my fault or maybe some kind of mapping? Thank you

Good server
Hey peeps; Im on this server. I got to lvl 32 in 2 days so far of casual play. Its a good server. Not to highly populated. I heard they are going to keep antonica for a quick second before they move to kunark. They want more people to join the server. The most i've seen on at once is like 15 but I hear 20 something have been on at once. Loot is double so if you get a dwarven ringmail tunic u get 2. Xp is 2x the speed but it feels like 3x.

so far vox,phinny are dead.. Plane of hate has been cleared except cazic thule witih some people sporting hate gear but not many. Inny had a attemp on he owned us; need more people.. Really need another good 10 active people on server but we are slowly gaining populatioin

took down inny last nite
just a little heads up on where this server has progressed to; We took down inny last nite with around 18 people. He dropped some uber l00tz with 2 monk haste cloaks sk weps; cleric hammer; and ranger sword ( 9 19). This means; dont quote me but i think "GM- tiny has increased the lvl cap to ..(Drumroll) 51". Next up im guessing sometime this week is cazic ( if he drops 52) and then plane of air. Once plane of air is cleared or attempted I think kunark is to be opened. Last nite we had over 20 people on at once which was great to see the server explode like that.

He is correct.
Inny is down. Level cap is now 51. Once CT is dead it will go to 52. I am going to require a good effort attempt on sky before Kunark is released. Many of us have all of our old world portions of epic complete and are itching to go to Kunark. We also had our all time high of 30 people online at once during that inny raid. There was some lag so I have quadrupled our upload bandwidth. We should be able easily support ~75 players at once now. Recap: Ringmail/cloth has minor stats and drops off skeletons to help newbies. Twice as much loot drops per kill, so gearing up is a lot quicker. Good exp bonus and group exp bonus (2boxing encouraged). I would say we are 1-2 weeks out from Kunark. You would have plenty of time to get 50 before kunark. Old items drop such as jboots off Drelzna. Manastone drops but is very rare. Gods currently have their original loot, including items removed from the game. Mayong is in the game with all custom loot in line for the era. Many of us are in full hate gear (done more hate than fear, tons of war/clerics). Anyone who joins will get twinked fast due to lack of competition and double drop rates. Right now we are still tank heavy. We need DPS DPS DPS. Severe lack of necros. We could use more rogues/monks/rangers/mages/wizards/necros and also need a good enc or two. |
I have started a Mage but I am pretty casual. Really enjoying myself on your server. Just got murdered by a Griffin in east commons, lol.

You know a forum would kinda help. Apparently the site for the custom files was down for a bit or something and people had to email each other them or something.

I formed my own guild, after helping the server extensively on raids and decided to lead my own. The very first raid where myself and my guildies conquered Venril Sathir half my equipment is removed. The other GM on the server idlely sits by telling me "He doesn't care" and then enjoys loot. Oh I might add loot we couldn't use was dispersed among people on the server! What a travisty to have a raid on the server that doesn't include every single person! Hey maybe I'm over-reacting. Sure, rules have to be adhered too but they should be stated clearly. Hey no big deal I left, but I have as much right to post my opinions as he has to enforce what I deem ridiculous rules.
Also, comparing server control to Nazism OBVIOUSLY is a way to convey stringent rules, but hey lets make everything in life politically correct. Your name is secrets, why not keep your thoughts that way then? |

And yes, I do think it is dumb you got gear removed. But your fault for not knowing the rules, regardless if you were told them or not. Judging from that picture, the server admin always said to include people, so you either didn't get the memo or you're just ignoring his rules, and were punished as such, and again, are complaining. I certainly wouldn't remove gear (as that's just a bit harsh) but I would punish rule-breakers, which this guy did. And I believe he was justified in his decision. None of this matters since you're just going to say a one liner of how I should stay out of this, but ah well, that's how it goes. People are so blind. |

I was never told everyone in the server had to be involved until the day my gear was stripped and I was delv'd. I was threatened by his guild members when I told them they couldn't come, which only reinforced the fact I wouldn't bring them. I absolutely understand the concept his server his rules, as long as he displays them and well, he should have handled it differently. I wrote him a PM and explained the entire situation and after that email he simply deleted my characters claiming to avoid drama. Aren't you over-reacting a tad? I mean Sadistic? that's entirely harsh; I didn't stalk him and key his car! I posted a screenshot ;p, hell you don't even know me. In fact you came on here, flamed me and then scolded me for being childish for flaming? Quite the confusing situation! Now I realize you view yourself as this omnipotent unappreciated intellectual. Try and wrap your mind around this...I played on a server to relax and I avoid new players as much as possible as its frustrating explaining things to them. So after helping and running a few raids for newer players I decided to branch out, and was punished for it. The reason for my punishment only became clear AFTER the apparently infraction. So I PM'd him, the above happened, so I made this post. Then as I mentioned earlier; you decided to bless me with your wisdom, I mean before I thought rules were just the worlds way of ruining my good time. My eyes can now truly understand the world around me after such incredible insight...I mean no rules would be anarchy...now the movie madmax makes sense finally!!! I'm done, you admitted the only reason you posted in this thread was to flame, so why continue it on? I banned him because he was extremely rude in ooc ("Fuck this server, fuck Tiny (me)" etc) and trained people. His friend also admitted they were duping. So if you want a first class citizen on your server, by all means invite this guy.
This was after I punished him for violating the rules. If any members of his now disbanded guild wish to remain and play nice, they are more than welcome to. They can also join the main guild if they wish or start a new one that will adhere to the play nice rule. The reality is there is only so much bandwidth available, so I want the server to be cohesive. If that means pruning a few bad apples, so be it. Call me Stalin. To be clear: His characters were deleted because he trained people and trash talked in OOC, after I did the original punishment. |

1) We aoe pull under dog tower, if Oneeye pulls mobs past a big aoe pull gone bad how can I stop it from aggroing him? 2) VS double proc'd, I just enjoy knowing I did him with 6 people the first time, how many will it take you without using GM abilities? 3) Duping?
