I want to know if there is any developers that have had built servers who would want to help me build a server in about a month or so.

I want to build a custom/legit..

I am waiting to get Titanium back on my computer since.. uh someone, won't point fingers, deleted it from my computer lol. But ceretonia aka Striat will be helping me build it as well. Once I get Titanium back on, in about a month I will start working and let everyone know how it goes.

My ideas are custom everything as usual.
Pet upgrade quests, Item upgrade quests, Title quests, Item tiers, Guild raids, group raids, complex raid scripting.. hopefully if Striat is up to it..
Max level to start at 70.
Won't be as easy as the rest of my servers.. won't take a week to get max level.
Minimum level on zones, key required entries, a lot of quests, new items, going to try to make this be a very well developed server. Will take a while to make as you all will know.. but I hope I can finish it ASAP before the year is over.

About 2 weeks from now dev should begin on the server.

Anyone have any constructive feedback on these ideas? The PVP system will work like this, so people don't get turned off from it:

There will be contested PVP zones. You will not have to enter them, the gear is the same quality as PVE zones. There will be PVP rewards, however, from the PVP zones that give PVE-quality gear.

If you do not want to go into a contested area, simply don't.

In PVE zones you can still group with opposing faction members. All interaction with opposing faction members is dropped when you enter a contested PVP zone, minus chat. To prevent exploitation, there will be a recent PVP kill timer on people when you kill them. This means that every 15 minutes you can get PVP points from the person you killed again.

This server will be treating PVP as an optional thing and not the primary goal, but that's how the system will work.

Also, depending on race, you will start in a different city. It is purple (good) versus red (Evil). You will not be able to use anon/roleplaying as a result of this.

No bots or boxes on this server. If you want to do that there is plenty of alternatives.

It will be Qeynos vs Freeport with unique lore to each side. Antonica will be the only continent available at launch with expansions being added to add in the other continents. All of the content is custom. Not a single trace of PEQ will be left.

Development starts in about 2 weeks, the remaining time is used for brainstorming.

Which client will you use? Titanium I assume since your reinstalling it?

Both SoF and Titanium will be supported.

i have seen alot of Straits and secrets work i will tell you right now both of them on 1 server thats gunna be deadly lol cant wait for it to happen =P

Well I got my EverQuest installed today so Secrets is developing the code.. we will be starting development soon. Hope on the launch we can have a lot of players coming in.

Ok I have a question.The server sounds cool and all,but is it just going to get shut down a week after you open it like all your past servers?This is not a flame but a serious concern/question so I don't waste more time leveling chars on you or secrets work only to have it dissapear-reappear-dissapear-reappear....

Correct me if I'm wrong,but you are the same guy that had the really cool server that was all based in Dreadspire,with bad ass scripted events right?Well I loved that server,and wasted a bunch of time on there only to have it just dissapear in a week and a half,with you saying your room mate turns off the server on you,and that you couldn't afford to run your computer.Then the server and forums just dissapeared.

Then you had the Bristlebane server which was really cool and had all that bad ass new gear,and you were posting those awesome pics from Crystallos with mobs in it.You kept posting showing progress and screenshots.Then all of the sudden out of the blue you just said you were done with it....

Then after a little bit,you posted that you were comming up with another new server and kept giving all these updates on your progress for about 2 weeks...... followed up by a post out of the blue saying you were ending that server too,and that you were done for good.And that brings us up to this point,where once again you are posting about another server.

And then you have Secrets,who has had a ton of servers and they go on and off and on and off,and then just dissapear of the face off the earth.Plus I thought I just read a post by Secrets not too long ago saying that he was just too mentally unstable(or something like that) to run a server at this time,after his server had only been up for like 3 days this time and then shut back down.

You guys do realize that when you fuck around and shut servers down constantly it wastes a lot of time that people played on each of these servers over and over right?

With the both of you together on a server,considering your past track records,is there really any way in hell that this server will run for more then a week and then dissapear?

Like I said at the beginning of the post,this is not a flame,but just my observations and legitimate questions,because I REALLY DO want to try this server out because I loved the servers they have put out in the past.But I'm through getting suckered in to wasting more time on the same people that have wasted my time already,multiple times in the past.So.... will this be another week long server,or are you going for the long haul?

And this server WILL be kept up, my other servers weren't made to be kept alive I was practicing building and all, but this server I want to be kept alive and running aslong as the players demand it and like it. My other servers had never gotten many players, the server will start out as being hosted from my home computer which I never had any problems with lag and was able to keep it online for a long amount of time, and after some time will be moved to a dedicated server.
But this server will take a while to build, set up. I want to have everything ready before players begin to play.

Well, he takes offense to it, so you need to remove it. I had assumed he had already seen it and was ok with it. Since that is not the case, you need to change it now.

Cool,I'm glad you plan on keeping this one going.As I have said,I really love the previous stuff you put out,and am excited and will be waiting patiently for it's release.:D

One more thing,is the new server going to have zones from later expansions like all your past servers?That was my absolute favorite part of your other servers,since you always had awesome new zones and new gear that no other servers had ever.I know there is some sort of hangup on Eqemu atm so that none of the new SoF zones can be spawned,but good god,people could still custom spawn those zones like you have,and like Trevius is doing with Creasent Reach.The way it is right now,I practically vomit everytime I log into the server select screen because I'm so rediculously sick of seeing the same lame old school zones from the same 4 expansions,recycled over and over.Every single server has the same exact zones,and like 90% of the servers are all going out of their way to be so old school EQ,which I hate.My favorite expansions were LDoN and later.I used to just love doing all those DoD missions on live,and camping nameds in Stoneroot and other stuff lol.Yet at the same time,there are like 50 sweet ass new zones,and all the new gear and npc models and I haven't seen anyone do anything with them besides you,Trevius,and The Hidden Forrest(but only for their hub zone).

Well I will be talking to Secrets.. we will release new zones over time. We will have SoF zones and all custom content in them, well custom content everywhere.. cycled spawns, etc.

I'm really excited about this server, Secrets and Striat both do some amazing work, I've worked with Bristlebane on a project that kind of died over night when the Server host disappeared.. (anyone seen Anubis? lol).

At the very least, you have a dedicated tester here.

That server, dark auspices, was actually ran by me for the most part. And it mainly was taken down because I joined the military and got married. But if you enjoyed the scripts and Events back then, just wait till you see what I have under my sleeves this time... :)

Yeah I had hosted the Dark Auspices server after Vaion had left and tried to work on it but I ended up not having the time nor Vaion was really around to assist :P
But I gathered some of the best developers I know and hopefully we can make a really good server together.

I plan on making this for the long haul. The issue with all of our previous creations is that we've all been alone on it. That's a daunting thing to go about, I really dislike doing it and I believe everyone who has ever run a server has gotten burned out. The issue with running those types of servers is that they are not thought out, they are released early, and you push content out daily because your playerbase gets bored with the existing content. That is the case with every server I have run, minus edge, but I think if we put a little bit more effort into the server as a team, we'll be able to develop a finish product immediately instead of half-assing 3 different servers.

I did not get burned out for any reason other than that. We're going to have the world completed before we start any testing what-so-ever, and that way we'll have a little bit of leeway ahead of our players. With being able to relax, I think i'll be in a way better mood and be able to concentrate on making this server the best it can be.

Whats up with this server,is it still being worked on? There is no info on the forums and I have asked there if it's still going on,but haven't gotten any response..... kinda seems like you hyped it up and then just disappeared (which seems to be what you do everytime)which is why I specifically asked if you were going to pull that dissapearing crap again on this one,and you all assusred that you were going to keep this one going blah blah blah....

Ok for anyone that was looking forward to this Divide server,I couldn't get any info from their forum so this is what I have found out on my own... Secrets,who was supposedly coding this server is now deving for The Hidden Forest which means this server is FAIL and not even happening,they were just too good to let people that were waiting know it's over...thx guys.

Bristlebane[nj] is getting extremely good at comming here and hyping something up,starting a forum,and then just dissapearing.... Whats that about 6 times this year so far?? Should probably try a new forum name before you pull this crap again,as I doubt anyone will believe you after how many times in a row you have done this.I know I sure the hell won't.I even asked earlier in this post if you are going to just end the project out of the blue again like all the times you have before and you guys said no,you were going to keep this one going for a long time....

Please try to be nice. This is nothing new to EQEmu. Personally, I wouldn't even consider getting hyped about a server until it had been up at least 3 months straight and growing well with a good steady support team.

It is well known that many people come here posting grand ideas for servers and maybe even start developing or even opening them to the public, but that a large percentage of them don't last more than a couple of months. I think most of the time they may not have realized how much work they were getting themselves into. Either that, or they opened their server and didn't get the player-base they wanted right away and it made them lose interest. Or, maybe they thought their ideas would generate a team of talented and interested developers that would do most of the work for them.

Coming up with an idea for a unique and interesting server is one thing, but making it happen is a whole other deal. Creating content, managing player issues, maybe a small dev team, a website, and so on is a very time consuming thing to do. It takes quite a bit of patience, persistence, and devotion that not everyone is up to.

Plus most people are doing it for free, and only being paid by the personal enjoyment of creating it themselves. You never know how prepared your GM staff is to take on the trials the server may bring up.

I had this happen recently too, I created a fast rate PvP EXP server and the population got bigger than I had ever anticipated. I ended getting stressed out, since I was the sole designer of the project and finding myself flooded with bugs I couldn't resolve, and had to take the project down.

It was a learning experience for me, one that I leave saying never take on a full project by yourself. Unless you have no life and know your stuff before hand! I upset quite a few people with this project, and I some what regret it, but my biggest regret was that I thought it would be easier than it really was, and said things that didn't fruit to reality.

Seriously? You should know better that this community is flaky as hell. Bristlebane left us, so it's completely away from my control there.

You shouldn't get hyped up about a server, especially one you know nothing about. This happens way too often in EQEMu land, and it hurts me too, even though i've done it a ton of times.

Another thing is i'm not getting paid to do this. You arn't a paying customer, and you don't have any rights to ask for a refund, because you arn't getting your $0 back. That's my damn $0, and I want it to stay in my wallet. But in all honesty, i'm sick of people thinking they are self-entitled to one-on-one service and higher quality service than even EQLive. Because guess what: you're not. SOE doesn't even do one-on-one with people anymore, half of them are automated responses based on skimming over a report. And to expect that out of a FREE service? That's rude, and ultimately selfish and demanding.

So, please, can we agree on one thing that you even said yourself: Don't put faith into one server. Ever.

And sorry if I seem snappy, i'm a bit upset too.

I agree and endorse this sentiment :-) People stop being so selfish, you get your cake and eat it too here. Plenty of servers to choose from. If you don't like whats on the list MAKE one yourself. It does nothing for the moral of the server OPS for you people to demand of any of them.

What....you want the servers to ALL go byby? Keep it up and no one will want to put up with your crap in a free environment.

Keep up the good fight Secrets and all others planning servers, don't let em get to ya.
