Temporary Alternate Login Server for SoD

I have set up an alternate login server at www.tsahosting.net:5998 that is available for public use. This is a TEMPORARY solution until Rogean is able to update the eqemulator.org login server to support SoD. I do not want to split the project. I merely want those who wish to use the SoD client to be able to do so.

For server admins:
Simply add another login server entry for www.tsahosting.net:5998. I allow public connections so you do not need to provide an account or password.

For players:
You need to get your login information set on this login server. To do so, you need to log in to "ProjectEQ: The Grand Creation" or "Storm Haven" via the eqemulator.org login server and use the #setlsinfo command. The #setlsinfo command expects two values, your email address and your password. This will update the alternate login server so you can log in via it. Once that has been done, you can set your eqhost.txt to either www.tsahosting.net:5998 (Titanium and SoF) or www.tsahosting.net:5999 (SoD).

Again, I only plan on making this available until such time as the eqemulator.org login server supports SoD. I have no desire to cause division in the community, but I know there are people who are waiting anxiously to use SoD.

As stated above, you need to log into one of the two servers listed. You'll have to create a character on one of those two so you can get into a zone. When logged in all the way, you can then type the #setlsinfo command.

The proper syntax is of the form:

Code:

#setlsinfo me@mydomain.com mypass
where you replace the two values with your email address and password.

So far this only works for PEQ-TGC and Storm Haven, are there any other servers planning to use this login for SOD?

It would be nice to get all the servers that can run SOD onto this login since the main one still isnt updated and there is no word at all fom Rogean if he even still plans to support this client with an update to the main LS. At least we can move forward now with our servers and not be held up by one person anymore.

gaeorn 04-21-2010 02:18 PM

Any other servers that wish to connect to this login server can do so. You can only set up the account via PEQ:TGC and StormHaven, but once the account is set up, you can log into any of the servers that have connected to this login server.

Same question. You need an e-mail for every box?

gaeorn 04-22-2010 10:53 AM

You do need to do the #setlsinfo for each account. But you can use the same email address for as many accounts as you wish. The email address is merely in case there are issues and you need us to reset a password or something similar.

b33tlejuice 04-22-2010 10:54 AM

I see, well that aint to bad, would be awesome if the #setlsinfo did all 3 for your forum account instead of having to do each one seprately :(

Caryatis 04-22-2010 01:56 PM

damn some people are so lazy

The problem is that the world servers have no information about what login server accounts are associated with each other. So doing what you wish is not possible.

can ya post a example of a dual LS enabled eqemu_config.xml file please. Thanks.

The login server for SOD seems to be down. Was working last night, but now I get "Error - A timeout occurred".

Titanium client still connects fine.

gaeorn 04-23-2010 10:50 AM

Yes, it appears my server is unreachable right now. I am investigating.

Doderic 04-23-2010 02:59 PM

The login server is up again.

gaeorn 04-23-2010 04:29 PM

Was a network outage. Has been resolved.

CakeM1x 04-23-2010 06:07 PM

This isn't working for me. This is what I did can anyone let me know if I'm missing something?
Logged into PEQ with old client and did the setlsinfo.
Logged off.
Changed the eqhost file in sod client to www.tsahosting.net:5999
Launched sod client and tried logging in and get invalid username/password.

gaeorn 04-23-2010 06:17 PM

PEQ had to be connected to this login server for it to be able to send the update packet. This login server was down all morning and part of the afternoon. And it appears PEQ has not yet reconnected. I would suggest trying again tomorrow or using the PEQ login server in the meantime.

SoD login server down... seems like tsahosting.net is pretty unreliable.

Edit: back up @ 8:26pm cst

Epicbeardman 04-25-2010 10:26 PM

Down Again

I just moved the equipment to a different colocation facility last weekend. I was dealing with some issues with the way things were set up so that is why it went up and down tonight. It should be stable from now on (except for when we take it down to update versions as we try to debug the connect to game server problems).

Epicbeardman 04-26-2010 11:35 PM

I am having an odd problem. I have one account that can no longer get into servers. I was playing fine on SoD the other day and then now when I try to login I get to the server screen and after trying to join a server it gives me an unknown error message. It is only this one account and it happens on all 3 or 4 servers.

You mean the client starts patching? Double check that your shortcut has patchme written after eqgame.exe, outside of any quotes. If you've already downloaded some files you may need to reinstall, I believe a patched version will disconnect after selecting a character.

Also, double check that changes made to your eqhost.txt file actually "stick" after you close off notepad or whatever.

Do you mean that it starts showing the server list properly? If you are using SoD, you need the port number to be 5999. If using Titanium or SoF, you need the port number to be 5998. The eqemulator.net login server does not yet support SoD, which is why the tsahosting.net login server was made available.

If you mean it is doing the Sony update to the client, the eqhost.txt has nothing to do with it at all. What causes it to do the update is if you run EverQuest.exe instead of eqgame.exe. Also, when running eqgame.exe, you have to have a shortcut that has "patchme" as an argument to it or it will not work properly.

Im having this same issue. I have also tested my install via changing the eqhost file over to PEQs login server, and it works fine then, however, I am currently unable to connect to any servers, attached to the temporary SoD login server. It had been working just fine the past few days, but today, it started with the above mentioned error for all servers.

gaeorn 04-27-2010 04:33 PM

Exit everquest and try again. If that does not work, please provide your login name so we can investigate.

Epicbeardman 04-27-2010 07:50 PM

login name is magebot. I have been having to play titanium with this one and SOD with the others. It worked a few days ago though but now its unknown error after login when I try to join a server.

Rajunn 04-28-2010 07:07 AM

Is the login server down again? After using the #setlsinfo command from titanium on PEQ, I still get the invalid login/password error.

adamalh 04-28-2010 02:56 PM

Whoa

Ok, I am having a new issue today. One I've never experienced.

This seems to be random, but has been happening a lot today to two of my accounts. I log into my account, get to SERVER select screen, click on EZ, login. After it loads at Character select screen, I have access to random people's characters. I am able to fully login to their characters as if they were my own. I exit EQ, log in again and i'll have yet another random character.

This seems to be intermittent, right now I'm logging into my own characters just fine. This happened earlier this morning then seemed to fix it's self, then it just happened again about 20 minutes ago.

I am using SOD client each time this happens, cannot verify if it happens on Titanium.

No it is not down. Make sure you use the exact same login name that you used to log in before changing your eqhost.txt. And obviously use the password you set with the #setlsinfo command.

I am having the exact same issue as you now. I play multiple accounts, and they all work, except one of mine is now getting unknown error every time i try to login using SOD and the temporary server. I was able to login with that very same account a couple hours ago. I can login to that account using titanium client just fine, and I can also login to my other accounts using SOD just fine.

I have tried restarting EQ, and my PC. I'm not sure what could have spawned this error on that account.

adamalh 04-30-2010 10:07 PM

Ok I don't know if you did anything to fix it, or if time fixed it. I tried that same account a few hours later and now its working again with SOD. Just figured I'd update you.

youthdragon 05-15-2010 12:54 PM

Server down or is just me..

KLS 05-15-2010 01:33 PM

Looks up for me atm. I know gaeorn was working on something at work so it's not unreasonable to expect it to go down for short amounts of time.

Wasted0x0 05-15-2010 01:33 PM

I can connect with my Titanium client but not my SoD client. I type in password and click log in but gives me an error saying to make sure I am connected to the internet. Worked fine last night.

GoKusse 05-15-2010 02:34 PM

Not up for me either so you're not alone, titanium is working fine though.

aab 05-15-2010 03:44 PM

Been down for me also - haven't been able to get in at all today.

walk 05-15-2010 03:45 PM

tsahosting is down

OR I should say it may be up but the connection between it and me (and others it seems) is down. I'm on at&t dsl.
