Error in your GUI XML files. Check UIErrors.txt

Hello,

I seem to be having issues after clicking on the server and then clicking launch. The "screen stays black." If I click the screen it will say not responding and immediately give me, "Error in XML" box. Within that box it says Error in your GUI XML files. Check UIErrors.txt

I followed the directions on both webpages to the best of my ability. Any ideas would be appreciated were I went wrong at.

KingMort 05-07-2011 03:07 PM

What servers , all of them or just one ?

Most likely though it's the UI your Client is set too that Eqemu doesn't like.

There are a few UI's that I know in fact do work in eqemu and people use them listed in this forum that you may try using instead of whatever you have atm.

http://forums.raidaddicts.org/viewfo...1c261a383c066e

Best of luck to you, let me know if that works

Toplait 05-08-2011 03:48 PM

Hi,

Thanks for responding, it seems like all servers.

Bevi1019 05-11-2011 05:03 PM

I am currently getting the same error, SoF client, all servers.

Bevi1019 05-11-2011 06:47 PM

I get this message for all of my XML files "referenced but NEVER declared!" in the UIError.txt

Lachdanon 05-11-2011 10:48 PM

I just followed both install guides and am getting this error as well when trying to login.

trevius 05-12-2011 12:07 AM

You should post which client it is that you are having trouble with. Also, check the wiki to make sure you are using one of the correct versions of EQ for EQEmu:

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...ClientVersions

As for UI errors, generally that would mean you either installed a custom UI, or you installed EQ over an existing EQ installation. Unless you either install EQ to a NEW folder, or uninstall EQ completely and delete the folder for it and then reinstall, there is a chance you will have files remaining from a previous install that will break your EQEmu compatibility.

Amilu 05-12-2011 12:17 AM

I am getting this error also. I removed the Velious UI folder and double checked I had the right files in the default folder.

I used the The Secrets of Faydwer to install for the Legacy of 1999 server. I also have EQ installed on another HD partition on my computer. Do I need to totally removed both again and start over with a complete fresh install? I do still play EQ on the SOE servers.

I am not sure what the Legacy of 1999 server is, but if you mean Project 1999, then that is only compatible with Titanium. SoF will not work for it. Though, you should be able to connect to other servers fine to test your client.

Amilu 05-12-2011 01:57 AM

Oops sorry it is Project 1999. Damn, I really didn't want to go out and buy the Titanium version.

I was hoping that the getting started page of the Project 1999 that said - There is another client that works on our server (The Secrets of Faydwer client), but this client is unsupported, and you may experience problems with some of the features. - meant the issues where in game and possibly ignorable.

Looks like i will be making the 50 mile round trip to the nearest store that actually still carries EQ anymore.

sorvani 05-12-2011 02:18 AM

You can always expect to get UI errors. But it should not cause the client to fail to load.

Even live gets UI errors with the default UI now, because Sony has never fixed it.

If you do, make sure you call first! It is extremely rare to find a copy of Titanium on the shelf of any store these days.

If the P99 website says that SoF can work with it, then that is news to me, though I don't really follow their stuff much at all. If it says that, then maybe there is something you can do to resolve it, but you would have to work with them on their forums, not here.

shaduuu 05-12-2011 10:28 AM

I had that error before and had to delete all my Ui's and reinstalled the default 1 and that worked

bard_007 05-12-2011 04:52 PM

hi i got this error when i setup from a underfoot install, my fix was to just grab my live default UI folder and place it in my EQE EQ folder, it loaded and got me to the server screen ...

hehe ill be posting somewhere else the next issues after reading alittle more ..

hope that helps :)

Bevi1019 05-12-2011 05:57 PM

I am currently toying with my files for the SoF client and Project 1999, I've gotten as far as creating a character and the server just went down on me, If I get a fix that allows me to actually enter the game I will post it here.

bard_007 05-12-2011 06:32 PM

what UI are you using? i think my error/problem now is when i connect to a server, the EQ window just shuts, no errors or anything, i think its the UI not loaded character screen.

causticsand 05-13-2011 11:01 AM

No one else suggested it, so I'll just throw this out there. I used to get this error. I am running EQ on Linux Mint through Wine. If I try a command like:
Quote:

caustic@enkidu ~ $ wine /media/aiesha/everquest/eqgame.exe patchme
I will get the XML GUI error. What I must do each and every time is first change to the directory where eqgame resides, then run it. Like this:
Quote:

caustic@enkidu ~ $ cd /media/aiesha/everquest
caustic@enkidu /media/aiesha/everquest $ wine eqgame.exe patchme
I'm not saying this will help anyone, just throwing that out there.

Bevi1019 05-13-2011 04:40 PM

It seems that this particular error comes from trying to follow the project 1999 setup over the SoF client. Problem is the getting started page provided by Project 1999 assumes you have Titanium. They do say that SoF may work to an extent, and it does but not if you follow that page completely. I was able to get on and play Project 1999 on my SoF client today, just with a ton a graphics glitches.

Heres how I was able to get on:

First off uninstall your current SoF client and delete the folder completely. Then reinstall from the disk but choose a different folder altogether. It wants to install to Sony/Everquest I changed that EQEmu, this will avoid any conflict with remaining UI files that can get left behind on the uninstall, also if your someone who still plays a live server the different directory will help avoid confusion when altering files.

Next follow the EQEmu Play Guide found here http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...akka=PlayGuide

Next from the Project 1999 Getting started guild http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2651 Download the eqchangesv9.zip. However do not send the entire package into your EQEmu folder. The 2 files that need to be changed are the spells_us.txt, and in the Resources folder the GlobalLoad.txt, leave the dbstr_us.txt alone. Also before moving dleting or overwriting ANY files copy them over to a separate folder so that if you do encounter issues you still have the original to change back.

that is the ONLY alteration I made to the client and I was able to log in create a character and enter world. Gameplay mechanics seem fine, but the textures/models are off. almost every mob in freeport appeared as a human male.

I was also able to change the login and loadscreens to the original versions following the Project 1999 guiide without an issue. Hope this helps and If I'm able to fix any of the graphics problems I will followup here.

frogsinmyhair 06-26-2011 08:19 AM

I had the same problem because I had EQ installed before (although uninstalled and my new install was in a diff directory)

I fixed it by just uninstalling everything, erasing and sony directory left, and allowing all the defaults for install

Works like a charm, even on windows 7
