desperate times for server names
 

when I connect to the server list at login I notice some servers love to take desperate measures of adding those little characters to the server name to keep them on top. do ya really need to do that to attract players?

Seems clear the EMU project has gotten too good. I remember the good old days when people posted about getting their servers to work and stuff.

just a thought: exclude a character or two from allowable server names. append them to the beginning of server names based on length of service, population or both / more.

that way regardless of how they have been named, the longer serving and larger populations are at the top.

Akkadius went through not long ago and promoted the servers you're talking about. I would expect that to be at least a semi-normal cycle to take care of this type of thing.

what i speak of is automation.. then not worry about it except 1/year+ or whatever for moving to preferred, which is enough on its own anyway probably, lol.

either way it's not that hard to use an alphabet and find a server down on the list.
