Spreading the Word

Now, if you get new users signing up, then they download the EQEmu Patcher 1.01 or whatever it is then extract it, they can't run it.. Why? "Because it's screwed." How long is this going to take to get this thing fixed so I can run it and install the missing files for EQEmu so I can select a server from EQEmu? This is pathetic, or another option is what you can do is make zip with all the files needed for EQEmu to work, like so you can choose a server from EQEmu. In the mean time someone tell me why it is always saying "Cannot Connect to Patch Server" - Then - "Operation Terminated" (Oviously this mean new users are unable to play EQEmu)...

a_Guest03 04-17-2003 01:24 AM

Jeez, Valdaor, you need to take a reality pill. I haven't been able to use patcher for 3 months. Relax! Before patcher, you had to wait until the next eqemu. You've only waited a little over a month. Don't upset people, and don't post this thread twice again, and like I wrote in your other thread, post these in their forum, general support.

What's pathetic is your attitude. Your post makes it sound like we owe you something, which we do not. Why dont you ask someone who got it to work to walk you through how to set it up?

ishap 04-17-2003 01:42 AM

Funny thing is I only started on EQEMu a week ago and have had NO trouble with the patcher. I've been able to play just fine and I've been able to setup my own local server on my LAN.

zaq 04-17-2003 08:36 AM

When are people going to learn to back up their EQ folder?

a_Guest03 04-17-2003 09:12 AM

Now, zaq :D I agree with you now.

BLOOD_kane 04-17-2003 11:46 AM

I will be able to when my 2.8GHz Processor, 1Ghz RAM, 128mb GFX Card, and 120gig HD computer comes in tommorrow :) :D

Valdaor 04-17-2003 01:03 PM

Um, your posts are not helping, now tell me what to do please...

Nira 04-17-2003 01:56 PM

Newbs

Alrighty

1) Install EQ
2) If you play Live make a copy of your Everquest folder to something like EQEmu where you will play from
3) Patch to the latest Live version
4) Run the EQEmu patcher

Lets elaborate of 4 because you seem to be unable to get it to work.

Unzip the files into your EQEmu folder (or your Everquest folder, depending on what you use to play on the emu servers)
Now, it probably put it in a folder named "patcher" or something like that. THIS IS BAD, take all the files out of the "patcher" folder and put them in your EQ directory. Then run the patcher from there. It should work, if it still doesn't you probably need some sort of Service pack for your version of windows, I don't remember where the link is. Just post if it doesn't work.

Valdaor 04-17-2003 06:25 PM

Alright, I uninstalled EverQuest and removed the folder. I reinstalled EverQuest and ran the live patch update. Then I installed EQEmu to my EverQuest folder and checked to see if the patcher folder was there, it wasn't. I ran the EQEmu Patcher, but still it said, Cannot Connect to Patch Server.

BLOOD_kane 04-18-2003 02:37 AM

*puts hand over eyes* oh jesus christ! Man setting up EQEMU should take the brain capacity of a 20 year old retarded chimp! Obviously you dont meet the standards

DeletedUser 04-18-2003 03:27 AM

Lets look at something.

I just ran the usage log for the patch server. Here is something I noticed: Total KBytes 27396005

This is since we moved to the new server. I would say the patcher works fine. You are either behind a transparent proxy (in which case you are Shit out of luck) or your machine is retarded.

healthee 04-18-2003 04:08 AM

I money is on Retarded.

Valdaor 04-18-2003 02:54 PM

I don't think it's my fault the patcher isn't working.. When you unzip the patcher you put it in your EverQuest directory don't you? I never use to have problems with it. I think the patch server is down or something, but I think they should have a zip file that you can download with all the files you need to have EQEmu working. Also the eqhost.txt download link isn't working so that isn't helping. x.x

Valdaor 04-18-2003 02:57 PM

My machine is, Pentium 3 760Mhz - 512Mgb SDR Ram - Geforce 2 Ti 64 mgb. Also, I built my machine. I'm currently low on money, so I can't upgrade. If I do, I'll have to get new motherboard, upgrade absolutely everything except graphics card, sound card, usp port card. :P

Valdaor 04-18-2003 02:58 PM

Damn it forgot to add - 80gig HD

a_Guest03 04-18-2003 07:31 PM

I just got patcher working - had to download 2 files to get it to work, but I KNOW the patcher works.

Valdaor 04-18-2003 07:56 PM

Dude, why didn't you say which files.. I spose I need them to get the patcher to work too... So what are they???

Valdaor 04-18-2003 11:53 PM

Awesome, I got it to work. Now I'm having another problem. I cannot connect to any of the servers that players and EQEmu provide. I think this is because the EQEmu Patcher is fucked it doesn't do shit. I was using EQWindow to get on. Also when the EQEmu Patcher use to work it would patch EverQuest and so on then when you log into EverQuest you don't get that picture of a frog where the 'connect, create account, account etc..' is. What the hell do I do now? All I have managed to do is get it into the EQEmu Login, but I have to make it so I can get onto the servers.

a_Guest03 04-18-2003 11:56 PM

Are you sure you installed eqpatcher in the eq folder? The one with eqgame in it?

DeletedUser 04-19-2003 02:44 AM

Man, you need to learn that all things dont work on all machines. How can 3000+ people run the patcher fine, and 20 or 30 cant? Did you know the patch server runs on the same exact webserver that the forums run on? You are posting, how did that happen and the patch server is down?!?! If the patchserver was down, the forums would be down also. Think about that.

Last night, I patched from live to eqemu with the patcher. I did this and logged onto Krusher's first attempt. No problems what so ever. Maybe you should just pay us for support. I only charge $40/hr. Just an idea.

a_Guest03 04-19-2003 03:43 AM

Could it be a dns thing? What servers can you connect to, Vald? Can you connect to www.eqemu.net, or does it connect you to 64.yaddayadda?

Mortamer 04-19-2003 03:51 AM

I admire anyone who has posted positively and tried to help this person.. Val, if you asked more nicely I could probably help you?

Valdaor 04-19-2003 11:55 AM

Okay guys.. You don't seem to be supporting me, but anyway. That eqhost.txt link is dead so I figured, eqlogin.eqemu.net:5999 would be the registration server and eqlogin1.eqemu.net:5999 & eqlogin.eqemu.net:5999 would be the login servers. Now with the EQEmu Patcher, it doesn't work for crap, so I downloaded EQWindow and used that. The login servers were perfect, but still another problem because I don't play Live I installed EQEmu Patcher into the EverQuest folder, well this is no problem this is what I did when I could play. Anyway there is something wrong with EQEmu Patcher, it won't start it just says "Cannot Connect to Patch Server" and for godsake Guest_03 just tell me the FILES!!!!

Valdaor 04-19-2003 11:58 AM

Mortamer, patience is time and time is being wasted, but the question is "Can you help?" if you could please just post a message here on the forum.

a_Guest03 04-19-2003 12:17 PM

Hey, Val! I don't KNOW which files!! I patched before you asked!! If I had it, I would give it to you!! If you want to be rude to everyone, I don't want to help you. Good luck!

Valdaor 04-19-2003 01:28 PM

Bad Memory huh? "Sorry if you thought I was being rude?" you must have a downloads folder..

Thrune 04-19-2003 02:19 PM

For god sakes...

Ok, I had quite a few problems starting up EQEmu as well, here's what I did, and some of this might help.

Find out what the absolutely correct eqhost information is.

Run through Everquest Live Patcher thorough check 3 times (this got a few extra files).

*****REPLACE EQHOST AND SAVE******

Be sure Eqemu patcher files are with the rest of your Everquest live files.

Try running everquest from Eqemu patcher way (click on run eq on the patcher window).

Specify which error you are getting, if its the cannot connect to server (1007?) try patching eq thorough again, replacing eqhost again, and eqemu patching again.

If you can get to server select and it won't get to character select (at least this is what the problem was with me), you are missing files required for eqemu. At first people thought I had gotten the live patch that was unfixable. It turned out to BE fixable and I just had eqemu patcher files in the wrong folder.

Sorry if this wasn't enough, took me 5 hours to get eqemu up and running (it also wasted my much needed weekend). Have patience, there is always an answer.

Valdaor 04-19-2003 02:25 PM

Dude, I can't get into the part where you click "RUN" when I click the EqEmu Patcher link it just comes up with a little screen "Cannot Connect to Patch Server" behind it, it has Operation Terminated.. Okay, so i'm not having any errors, simply the EQEmu patcher won't run.

Thrune 04-19-2003 02:31 PM

hmmm... thats odd...

Try uninstalling the file again and redownloading it, make sure you have the location set to C:\ProgramFiles\Everquest\eqemupatch or whatever. One time I tried it and I just downloaded it to program files without click everquest

Thrune 04-19-2003 02:34 PM

Also, I don't know if you've answered this but, what type of connection are you running?

I have cable and I get that same message some times too... it just eventually works for me.

Valdaor 04-19-2003 02:36 PM

I'm using ADSL - 128kb connection.

Thrune 04-19-2003 02:37 PM

any firewalls?

If I have norton antivirus internet security running it screws up any program I try to run that connects with the internet...

Valdaor 04-19-2003 02:42 PM

Omg Thrune, I use norton should i disable it and then try???

Thrune 04-19-2003 02:45 PM

Sorry for long response time,

YES

Valdaor 04-19-2003 02:51 PM

Gutted, still doesn't work. :P
We'll have to work out something!!

Thrune 04-19-2003 02:57 PM

Well hum...

Let me think for a second...

Try completely re-downloading the patcher. (as in deleting all files of eqemu patcher on the comp and redownloading from this website)

If that doesn't work... hmm...
the only thing I can think of is a possible firewall you may or may not know about that is restricting access to connect to an outside source in this manner.

Of course, that makes absolutely no sense in the...sense...of why it would be doing that. Try disabling any firewalls and allowing full internet allowance from your computer. (don't blame me if you get hacked ;-) )

Valdaor 04-19-2003 04:16 PM

Haha.
I'll give it ago, but also I noticed when you install/extract EQEmu it only puts two files into the EverQuest folder, patcher.dll and patcher.exe maybe there is some files missing.
Anyway apart from that I'll look for anything on my computer that is causing a firewall.

Valdaor 04-19-2003 04:22 PM

No, I couldn't seem to find anymore applications that could be causing firewalls other than Norton Antivirus. In this case I will propably just have to wait for an EQEmu update or when you run the EQEmu patcher it is hosted to this site right? So there must be some kind of link where all the files are stored for the EQEmu Patch updates. If someone could give me the link I could download all the files nessescary for EQEmu to work, not saying that the EQEmu Patcher would work, but I could just use EQWindow.

pain2200 04-19-2003 04:57 PM

Val u dont seem like a very positive person. Let me see if my 2 cent 56 k modem dl through patcher now knowledge can help. i will go real slow for all u pep out there seen prety colors jumpin around the screen.

1. Instal Eq (who would have quesed)
2. Patch Eq to the latest version by running Everquest.exe
3. Download Patcher 1.01
4. Double click i beleve its an exe instal file not lookin now so dont care
5. Point it to your everquest directore ie c:\program files\sony\everquest trilogy (yes i know theres typos in there)
6. Upon it instaling open up patcher.exe
6a. if same error oh well ull never play sucks to be you
6b. if it starts to download files good for you
7. go to www.egemu.net click on readme on the left hand side of the screen click the link in the how to set up client machine area that will direct you to a .txt file to dl this file and not open in a browser like mine did right click go down to save as and save it as forgotthefilename.txt
8. place that file into your everquest directory
9. click on your start bar click run in the field type in the location of your eqgame.exe ie for mine it was "c:\program files\sony\everquest trilogy\eqgame" patchme make sure you have patchme at the end w/o qotation mark near it
10. if you still have problems i dont think theres a person here that could break it down any simplear then that.

fyi the server for the patcher was down a while ago and i notiched at that time i was haveing problems surfing the eqemu website if you notice anything like constant page loses or being sent back to the main site then the server is most likely haveing "isues" so you cant do jack as for me i just got home from work and i got it to work right away today following those instructions note dont use the same directorie that i used as an example its only an example. Now dont even bother replying to this because im not gonna reply any more.
