Kazaa Is bad, look what it did to a 12 year kid....
LOL look at this http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/interne...ent/index.html
I just got this Email a few mins ago and damn 1000 music files? and $2 per song or $2000 lol good thing i dont use kazaa any more and i delete them too so they arent going to get me !! :) |
thats why you dnt share it :) Kazza lite has dont share ;)
|
I have downloaded stuff like a lot of people ... if I get taken to court and they make the charges stick ... then that is my fault and I deserve what I get. What pisses me off is people who make the excuse that they download music 'because the music publishing companies charge too much for it'.
That's crap ... if you break the law, don't complain if you get taken to court for it, just like if you steal from a store ... just because the product is digital and easily copied, doesn't make it right. If you don't like the price they want to charge, then don't buy, or 'steal' it. Or if you do steal it, don't complain when you are prosecuted for breaking the law. Just my 2 pence, err cents :) |
Bah just go with Filetopia. They have encrypted lines or something my dad told me. Me and him switched off of Kazaa Lite.
|
I like how they're offering an amnesty program for people who admit they trade songs...
Delete all your songs and promise never to do it again  |
That amensity program DOES not offer you future immunity, it simple states, right now , we'll (RIAA) not prosecute you. But since you admitted to theft, you are open to prosecution from the companies the RIAA represent amoung other things. They're currently being sued over it with an 'unfair business practices' claim.
|
You can be mad at KAZAA,you can be mad at the RIAA,but the bottom line is:
METALLICA GOT THIS WHOLE THING ROLLING,with thier deep pockets....... The Dude  |
Does anyone know if the RIAA only cares if you share music files they own? Because I like classical music and share a lot of that... and am thinking that they couldnt possibly worry about that.
|
well, it's classical music.... i don't think there was even such thing as a copyright law when it was created.... unless the person playing the music did, but he didn't creat it... bah! i don't know....
Here's another thing to make note of. The RIAA is running around sueing (can't spell, stupid grammar) everybody in sight. So who is collecting the money? the labels. the sad thing is, if you claim that you do download music, but then you go out to buy the cd, then you are basically paying them to sue you... |
I like the thing they are trying to do:
For amnesty from sueing you,if you tell us who you are,you wont be sued...You must promise not to do it anymore.... YA RIGHT!!!!! I dont believe this for a second, its most likely a ploy to find peeps they cant find on thier own!!!!!!! Even if it IS true,it just mentions RIAA NOT SUEING YOU,it doesnt say anything about other companies not doing so..... I WOULDNT DO THIS......... The Dude  |
http://www.es5.com
it's still getting off the ground. Has a lot of stuff that i won't advertise because it could be considered warez. It is built for security...ya whatever, use it if you want. I don't usuallyh ahve any trouble finding a file i want |
http://www.eff.org/share/petition/
I think the RIAA is the blame for the sales of CD to go down, its just sad and pathetic. |
Dwnloading music off the internet is never going to end. Napster was taken down, then came other programs like Kazaa. Then came Kazaa Lite and people are going to keep making more and more programs that will allow you to keep downloading files were, for the time being, won't get you into trouble or atleast get cought. Then another way will come out that will beat the others and there will always be a way to download music. The companies can't stop it. Hey, just download movies; not songs. lol

Now here is a good man. This is no different from robbing a bank, getting away with it, then they track you down. You are caught, you broke the law, deal with the consequences. But the thing I think should be allowed is a demo of songs. If you like it enough to buy it, then go buy it. Support something you like, don't kill it. That 12 year old deserved it as much as anyone. I think it would be all the better for them to track down all the little kids who have done it, so maybe they'll learn something in life. |
this topic/subject is like SOOOOOO last week

/burns everything to disk
/reformats HD 5 times i didnt do nothing |
Lol ia m not saying it is good or bad. Half of the files you get off of kazaa is crap. When i dwonloaded music from kazaa if i liked it i would go a buy it on CD. Kinda like a free sample......
Here is a good quest: If you own the CD and it has 2 or 3 really good songs on it is it still bad if you download just the 3 songs? Lol the law is the law i am just unsure about the 1 part :) |
?
I just broke the 5,500 mark for .mp3's. And I'm on 56k. So a good amount of my time is spent downloading them. Usually 10 a day.
Kazaa Lite/Soulseek seem to be the best to use, especially now that Lite has an option to turn off IP ranges that come from the RIAA. Ethically, do I know it's wrong? Sure. I wouldn't want someone ripping off my work without authorization. Do I sincerely care? Not really. I doubt I've downloaded much music that didn't already come from a band that has millions already. Which is more money than 95% of the world will ever have. The day musicians/celebrities stop paying $30,000 for outfits they wear for one award's show, is the day I'll take interest in their whining for financial security. |
My feelings exactly
I've been using P2P programs for almost a decade now, and yes, I know it's wrong. I know it's stealing. But I don't give a damn! These entertainers earn millions and millions of dollars every year, and for what? A good voice? A useless talent like acting? IMO all the money that is going to the entertainers are going down the drain. I'd much rather see scientists/researchers earn those millions, because they'd actually do something usefull with it. So until the day comes when they slash the salaries of football players, singers, etc., I feel no moral obligation towards those who are getting ripped off.

Don't worry... If the RIAA doesn't stop you... TCPA will...
For those who have only been following the RIAA and their constant struggle in grabbing common computer users IP's off the net.. It gets worse... the RIAA is not what you will be worring about in a year... worry about the TCPA and the "fritz chips" that will be in all your hardware components within the next year... Read about it hear http://www.againsttcpa.com/tcpa-faq-en.html
Just my opinion.. Its scary... |
thats some scary shit. well, look at it this way folks, america was started from people running from a controlling government (religious control over england). They were rebels, and fought England to gain "freedom". 300 years later we have become originally what we ran from. With laws that exist which are meant purely to tell people how to live their lives (for ex: drug policy, piracy, anti abortion ect...) and the citizens of the US having no say in any of the laws ( which would make more sense if every law proposed was hosted in an annual national voting to see if the law passed, and a possibility to get it revoked with enough petitions), america's supposed "democracy" is nothing more than a hypocrytical load of crap. anyways, my point is, unless everyone in the country rallies together and starts another civil war, (which makes no sense how a country who was founded on rebellion has laws against rebellion) there will never be change. every way of life will be controlled by the christian ideals of family values. the only form of escape is to leave this crappy country. there are many other countries in the world who have logical govenments who honour civil rights and dont put the control of a nation in the hands of a few old white rich christian men. As for microsofts "fritz chip", microsoft can go to hell, because the day they put a big brother chip in my computer is the day they pry my tower from my cold dead hands.
|
mm
Wonder if "I thought it was acceptable to DL songs, if its not than why does Everquest encourage its use with the recent addition of the MP3 player?? " is a decent argument
I'm Just insanely bored atm. |
the problem with this "fritz chip" is that it takes away any freedom associated with the home computer (which is thier intention). But let's think about this for a sec. ALL teens across north america want a personal home computer for what? for homework??? i think not. it's to download music, pirate movies and programs, and rebel by giving big corporations the "middle finger". The problem is, if this chip does pull through, and there is no way around it, teenagers will no longer want a home computer. (except maybe to play computer games, but the games on playstation, x-box and game cube are currently more advanced). I think the industry is shooting themselves in the foot... If you want a solution, boycott microsoft and go HERE

yeah metallica sucks now. goto google and type in "fuck the riaa", a bunch of cool sites come up
