EQ Account required?
 

Hello, I've ran a bit of a search, but couldn't find anything about my question.

I've never played EQ, and I've been tempted to try it. After discovering this project, I became pretty excited. I've read that it will be required to update Everquest to the most recent version, is a paid account required for this? What can I say, I'm cheap, and I don't want to pay 10 bucks a month on top of the price of the game.

Basically speaking, would I be able to patch Everquest without an EQ account? Is there a place where I can download the necessary files, or is having an account absolutely necessary?

No you don't need to register an account with Sony, just buy the game CDs. By default, the EQ client checks for and updates to the latest Sony patch prior to asking you to enter your userid and password.
