problem connecting to eqemu

ok, here goes. normally it's pretty risky posting here, but i did search for error 1001 and nothing fit my description.

when i try to login to eqemu, the screen pauses and thern error 1001 pops up. i have double checked my eqhost.txt and in it is exactly this:

[Registration Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
}

if something has changed in eqhost.txt, please let me know

1)are you using same name/pass as in the forums

2)fully patched?

This happens with minilogin, too, just FYI. So the sync of name/pwd with forums isn't necessarily pertinent (provided he has his local mysql admin setup properly and has eq.account table properly filled via 'world add user pwd 200' or similar).

It's more likely related to a port inconsistency. Make sure eqhost.txt and loginserver.ini both reference the correct ports, and check for any firewall inconsistencies (blocked ports, wrong packet type allowed (tcp vs udp) or maybe just the directional flag wrong). Read other threads to work out firewall issues, even SOE's boards has that info.

Hope some of this helps or at least sets you looking in the right direction.

lol, i'm not instulted 8)
yes i am fully patched and yes i'm using the same user name and password. i think if i got that one wrong it would be a different error. (i've gotten that error before many times because i forget to change my eqhost.txt)

i checked my firewall settings and i unlocked the port. it seems to work now, thanx a lot! i'm just confused because i never had to change my firewall settings before. i wonder if anything has changed in the new release.
