Son of a! 1017
 

LOL im going to shoot myself in the face.....my server is running great...ive had many people play on it today. Infact i have one in kaladim right now. But my problem is my poor client machine on the same network as the server cannot login. after i select my server i get the dreaded 1017...i do not even get to char select screen. I am pretty sure this has something to do with them being on the same network....all firewalls are off for my client pc. It can connect to other servers but not mine...no idea...i thought i fixed this crap...

i was thinking that a dydns domain would be a good way to go...ive read this in a few posts...i will register with no-ip.org tommorow and see how that works

Connecting to a URL in place of an IP address will not change the error you're having. The URL will simply resolve to the servers IP and you'll be right back where you where.

No need to shoot yourself in the face over this.

Your problem is likely NAT. Look up the sticky in the howto section and see how that works.

Yea, use a dyndns hostname on your firewall box, then change the ip in the hostfile of the client machine to the INTERNAL interface of that box.
