My 2nd PC specs....can it run a server?
 

P3-600 celeron
384 mb pc133 sd ram

15gig hd
Geforce 4 mx 440 (64 mb)

Windows XP pro


This machine could run Dark age of camelot + Shrouded isles with all the fancy crap turned off, rather well. In fact alot better than i had expected....

So i was wondering if this machine would be able to run a 5.0 server....It would be for only 1 or 2 people to connect too (me and possibly my wife) thru our home network. (no online connections from outside people....Max of 2 players will have access to this...me and my wife)

As a side note....She may not even play....so more than likely, it will just be for my own personall connection....1 Person only.


Will it work....or will i have so much lag it wont be worth it.

It should work for 1-2 people but that low amount of RAM scares me. I would bump it to 512 to be safe. Not that expencive now a days $25 for 256 chips of SD Ram now. Heck i saw a 512 Chip on e-bay for $15 last week.

Id love to upgrade it, but i gotta work with what i got ATM....Moneys tight :)


As long as it will run a server for me and possible a 2nd person on the same network, with little to no lag......it will work for me :)

That should make a rocking 2-person server.

I ran my server for a while on a 333mhz no problems, just when someone attacked my connection couldnt handle it. I dont know if the cpu had to do with it, but i got up to 20 players sometimes. (Until someone hits YES on the crashdump, which sends a rather large opcode to my world server, frying my router for about 15 minutes ^_^)

btw My server (Rogean's All-GM) is now on a new server, 2.0 ghz 15 mbs down/up
