Getting expansions...
 

ok ok ok ok...i have heard about all the expansions you can buy in the stores and all, but (i say this with no intentions of pirating the expansions, EQ, or SOE in ANY WAY) is their a way i can update my original EQ via download?

There is an unofficial position that if they give you the files from their own server without verifying your registration, but after you bought the original client, and that you didn't in any way subvert the intended use of the patcher program through hacking or using 3rd party patchers... :oops:(deep breath):oops:

Then it's not warez. Download away. But be prepared for it to patch over your current version of eq and break it. Patches on big patch days break stuff.

wait? can you seriously get all expansions via Sony's servers?... I thought there was a limit imposed on how much you could download off them? (or, maybe you just constantly d/l to the limit until you get all the files?).


hmph... serves me right not to have checked that out before they broke emu.. hehehe, oh well... they'll bring it back up to speed with live soon enough.


As for the original question, I think it's been answered as much as it has to but if you stick with characters in the zones that you DO have than you should have no problem. I know I can play Froglocks on emu without LOY since they're in the old world.
