Quick Question

Now I'm sure this has been asked a million times and I know what it's like answering the same damn questions over and over again, therefore I apologize in advance =/

Fact of the matter is, the FAQ doesnt seem to have the answer, and I've followed the readme instructions 3 times in a row to no avail.

When running world.exe I get the following:

Failed to connect to database: error: access denied for use: velocity@localhost <using password: YES>
Loading items...DB query error
Error 2006: MYsql server has gone away
Error in Populatezonelists query select max<id> FROM items 2006: MYsql server has gone away

blablablabla, always error 2006

World server listening on: port 9000
Connected to login server: eqlogin.eqemu.net:5999

I did follow instruction to the T, however, I'd be extremely grateful if anyone has any tips or tricks, or firsthand knowledge as to why this aint working for me......

Thanks in advance,

Okies, i got the problem also so im gonna answer your question in 3 points :

1/ Check this link in the Windows Support Forum, it might help. http://eqemu.org/forums/showthread.p...;threadid=1169

2/ Check your db.ini VERY CAREFULLY. Sometimes (Especially on Windows XP), if u copy / Paste the informations of the file from a web page, it insert a "Blank Space" at the end of the ligne "Password".

I honestly suggest you check the whole db.ini file, trying to see if there isnt a space or something...

3/ and last but not least, check and read again (and again) Readme.txt files in the packages. These are very well done, and most of times, they give answer to your questions.

hope it helps

Make sure you dumped the old db, create a new one and source the new db.sql. If so, you may wanna repeat the process just in case the db has become corrupted. Just a thought since you want to cover all bases.

This might be obvious, but did you make an account on your mysql server?

Why do we have to move everyones "questions" into different forums all day because they cannot read?

Trumpcard 04-18-2002 02:09 AM

Dont move them... Just immediately lock them... :-)

You can tell I use to be a sys admin...

Just delete it... If anyone important screams, we can get it off a backup tape...

There is a difference between reading, understanding, paying attention and following directions.

That's why the posts are at the wrong places and people continue to ask for help that have not even read the readme.

I agree with Trump....delete misplaced posts. If you keep moving them then it will not change.
