This is driving me crazy...emu is working fine internally...
Alright, I've got everything set up and working fine. The world server, the zone server, the SQL database running locally, blah blah blah.
So here's the catch. I can get it to run on my local network. What I mean is, I still use eqlogin1.eqemulator.net as my login server, but I set my world address as 192.168.1.101 (the internal IP of the machine I have running the server). Therefore, when I log in and select my server, it will work fine for me, but of course anyone else who tries (unless they happen to have the same thing running I do :P ) it won't work. Of course, I also edit the batch file for boot5zones in the same way. So!! When I try to friggen open this up to everyone, no one can connect ! That means its gotta be an issue with my router. I am using a Linksys BEFSR81. **I HAVE PORT FORWARDING SET UP** I have opened and forwarded ports 7990-8000, and port 9000 to 192.168.1.101. I have disabled the WAN request blocker. I have disabled DHCP on my router, and changed my computers so that they acquire static IPs. I even tried making 192.168.1.101 a DMZ host and it did not work ! Now, I know this is a support forum for EQ EMULATOR, and not my damn LINKSYS router, but I'm really hoping one of you guys out there might give me a little tip to watch out for that maybe I missed when trying to use NAT. Thank you. |
Oh yea just figured I would add that I have been down every single forum on this site, every friggen KB post at linksys.com, etc. etc. :p I realize this isn't a router support forum, just hoping someone out there can help me out.

192.168.0.1..255 is a privative network address range. your EXTERNAL ip address CAN'T be in that range. From the outside of your network (ie. people trying to log on your server), its not accessible.
find which ip address is yours, re-read the guides are replace 192.168.0.101 where it should be replaced. |
I know that... did you read everything I wrote? :)
|
Let me clarify incase what I wrote is confusing (sorry past 1 AM here!).
When I said, "when I try to open it up to everyone." I meant I put in all my external IPs where they should go. IE: I change: worldaddress=192.168.1.101 to: worldaddress=64.167.28.xxx (my external ip) And of course I make the changes in boot5zones, etc. Sorry for the confusion. |
If you are sure its not a NAT / router issue then it could be your ISP, a lot of ISP's dont allow hosting, If this is the case there is nothing you can do.
|
Well.. see.. .thats what I think the problem is. I think its an issue with my router. If anyone knows any stupid little things I may have missed (Linksys BEFSR81) please tell me :)
Like I said I know this isn't the place to ask about routers, but it pertains to EQEmu for me and was wondering if anyone would help. Thanks :) |
What about posting/PMing your ip address and ask someone to make a telnet on it, using eq ports, to see if your server is reachable or not ? (ps : i can't, i m limited to conventionnal ports for security reaons, here at job).
|
Go to Norton's web site, they have a tool called security check, that will check all your ports and tell you which ones are open, closed, and stealthed.
|
What ISP do you have? When i had cable internet they had blocked ports that were needed for it to work.
|
Also are you running a firewall?
