EQ Patching Question
I wanna come back onto EQEmu again but I was wondering, am I supposed to use EQLive patcher or EQEmu Patcher.
You see when I first did this I had dialup, I couldn't stand the loadtimes, and now that I have DSL I assume it would make the patching and the loadtimes on EQ significantly faster. Would it? |
Patch to eqlive. There is no eqemu patcher any more.
Be sure to make a backup of your eq folder after patching. The backup will be the one you use for eqemu. If sony patches some time in the future in a way that breaks the emu, you will have the backup to use. This is important! There is no eqemu patcher. If you patch with live and it breaks, and if you don't have a backup folder... you are out of luck until the emu catches up again. |
thanks, I have another question though
I have another PC that I was thinking of putting EQEmu on. It's on my network with access to DSL. But it doesn't quite meet the system requirements. Here they are... My PC Pentium II 350 192MB RAM S3 Savage 4 32MB AGP Windows 98SE 32x CD Rom Drive EQ says it requires Pentium II 400 256MB RAM (Better for the fancy character models) 16MB 3D Accelerator card 4x CD Rom Drive Now do you think it would be a good idea to put EQ on that? If so, which expansions would be safe bets? I just need a little advice |
You could try and run the oldworld, with all the luclin models off, but it will run slow.. I run on two machines here, my main, and :
amd k6 2 500 mhz 192mb 133 mhz RAM geforce 2 gts 32 mb vdo card 48x cdrom and it runs very slow when any particles are enabled, or the clip plane is above minimun, or many npcs in zone and so on. If you are just running around the world, and mabye a single fight here and there you might be able to stand it. Otherwise the framerate is SO bad that it is almost unplayable (to me anyhow)... |
