Remotley Hosted Zone.exe's

How would I go about setting up a few zone servers hosted on another computer. I would like MiniLogin.exe, World.exe and a few zoneservers on one computer, and I would like another computer to host a few zones as well.

What files will the second computer need?
zone.exe
db.ini (pointing to computer 1)
perl58.dll
libmysql.dll

This is what I currently have, and I have the IP address in the Boot5Zones.bat set to computer 1. It boots up, but cannot connect to the database.

Thinking it's a pretty simle fix: therefore I can't find out how! Any help would be appriciated, thanks!

you grant access to the other ip in the database?

Yup

Blanket fix response :P It looks to be just a DB connection you need to work out though.

To be on the safe side, copy everything from eqemu on the other computer. Do not use 127.0.0.1, or localhost for any IP's on either computer. Verify all you lan IP's are typed right, and correct access and IP in mysql. for the second computer boot5zones should have "start zone . {computer IP} {port} {other computer IP}"
IE {computer IP} = ip for client to connect to
{other computer IP} = world server IP for this zone.exe to connect to.

That is about all I can think of atm.

Short but sweet! :P

I got it working last night, copied across db.ini, addon.ini, libmysql.dll, EmuShareMem.dll, spells_us.txt, quests directory, Zone.exe and plugin.pl

The zone boots-up and connected to the World server on the other computer. If I only bootup that one zoneserver and try logging in the client hangs - even after compiling the fix posted in the world building forum. It doesn't hang on the other computer though, even if that one is connecting to the remote zone.

I have groupid in the database, and the long LOCounter for the incremental zone ID.

Using the latest CVS still hot from SourceForge :P

Will keep looking the forums for help - thanks!

Remember to start your zones like this:

Code:

start zone . <ipaddress> <port> <world server address>
If you are running lan only, I would use the lan ip addresses 192.168.... and be sure the world server ip address is the ip address of the other computer where world is running.

If you use your real wan address in the first ip address, make sure the router is forwarding the ports to the right computers.
