Basic LAN setup question - VPN

I have DSL at home, and I am connecting to my work comps (also connected to the internet via DSL) as a VPN, but the connection only offers me like 56K of download speed for files, etc.... my connection to the internet still works at the 150K level....basic DSL speed....is there a quick fix or any help that someone could offer me?

Im not sure what exactly you are looking for here?! Could you clarify a smidge better on your situation, then what it is you are wanting to accomplish?

I'm thinking probably banana cream pie. Or perhaps a dune buggy with plumbers tools...

...or maybe I don't understand your question and therefore can not give you a clear answer.

Man banana cream pie sounds good though...

My reading of his question is that he has a Virtual Private Network connection from his house, via his DSL line (150Kb/s) over the Internet, to his office, but when he downloads files from his office over this VPN, he is only getting a maximum of 56Kb/s download. When he downloads from the Internet (not using the VPN) he is getting the full 150Kb/s.

It sounds like his company VPN may be rate limiting to 56Kb/s ... no idea if this is likely, but I would suggest he speak to his company's network people. Also, when using a VPN you have some overhead with extra headers, encryption, etc, but I am not sure this would account for the bandwidth reduction he is seeing.

no bandwidth limit at work - i actually set it up...work setup is this: 3 computers connected to a DSL router, with port (1723 i think...whatever VPN port is...) forwarded to a comp that has the VPN client set up on it...
