Armor Class

Ok, i saw this on a server but i cant seem to pull the name of the server out of my head. But on this server , AC seems to apply real nicely. It seem that there IS a difference in having a certain amount of AC on that server. i,e. when my ac was around 300, guards hit for about 90-110, then once i was equiped it seem to hit alot less.

Just a request for AC codes.

This is the Scorpious2k server taht you're thinking about. We ahve had AC implemented for about a month now and it reduces damage from mobs. There have been some wrinkles to work out in it to balance it out, but it works great now. With average AC for your level the mobs are about the smae difficulty as they were without AC. With a higher AC from uber items they do less damage and are much easer which is jsut as it should be. I ahve no idea how much this code would be compatible with other servers since we are still running 5.3 and everyone else is running 5.5 though.

Any chance that we (the community) could have a look at the code. I am sure that there would be someone who could make the conversion if it was needed.

That code is what EQLive should've had all along. I must reconfig my silly little router and have a look at the Scorpious2k server - drooling time.

Scorpious ahs added a lot of new code to the server recently, I know he wants to add some of it to the official code eventually once we get the bugs ironed out. Other than AC he also added some new quest commands hat add a lot of NPC interaction and he completely rewrote the xp code and formulas so that the formula goes up ot level 210 and the current level max for the server is 130.

I tend to lean towards the over-cautious side. We have been testing this about a month and after a lot of tweaks, it seems to work well. It is NOT the same as you see on live. No one has been able to figure out the formula used there. For these reasons, I have been slow to put it into CVS.

What it does is reduce the amount of damage a mob does to you by a random factor of 5-10% of your total AC. After a lot of testing, this seems to work the best.

The down side is that the two databases available for the emulator were built for a server where AC is not a factor. Once AC is added into the calculation, everything falls apart. The mindmg and maxdmg values for mobs in the npc_types table has to be increased or you will have mobs at higher levels than the player unable to hit them.

With this warning, and knowing Myra will have an update of her DB out in a day or two to compensate for this, I put the code in last night. Expect to see it in CVS on the next release. It will appear in dev operated servers like Guild Wars and the Official Test Server (TM) probably today or tomorrow. And of course, like all the strange new things I am testing, you'll find it on the Scorpious2k server now.
