What have I overlooked?
 

Okay, I reinstalled EQ, did live patch, changed eqhost and made shortcut exactly right. (I used to play guildwars a few months ago, so i know it worked)

I use my shortcut, it goes directly to eula, I enter my username from here and pw, and it says cannot connect to everquest server.

I'm guessing there is some techie thing that I would need to change, I've spent some time looking for something similar in your database of answers but not sure where to start.

There really isn't anything else to do. That's all you need to do to connect.... Interesting. Is there a number that goes along with the error that you're getting? Double check your eqhost and shortcut again.... I know that you said they were right, and they probably are, but they are the most obvious culprits. Could you also post what's in your eqhost file?

Oh yeah, forgot to ask when you patched. I don't think it should make a difference to get to the server select screen. But, if you patched yesterday or today, you won't be able to play on any of the servers anyways....

this is from an old guild thread, it matches the current eqhost, i hope, I'd feel pretty silly if i was wrong

you just answered my question......unfortunately. I just reinstalled and patched because my guild just made a server that we're testing for pvp.

there is no way around that?

It should be :5997, not .5997 at the end of each line.

thx, but I made the mistake of patching anyway(took eq off pc in december) so I'm screwed now anyway.

Well, you should be able to get to the server select screen now. Unfortunately, if you patched, you still won't be able to log into one until they are fixed with the new patch.....

I'd try and logon anyway, I patched one of my EQ directories to live and I can login to 5.5 servers with no problem.
