Is there a place to get a free EQ client?

I just want to play around with server on my local network, but dont really want to lay out the money to get a retail version.

So does sony offer a striped down version of EQ that people can download for free and where is it?

Thanks!

No there is NOT, and asking for files on this site is against the rules and will get you banned.. Just thought I would pass the info on to you since you didnt read the rules... Though I would say that paying $19.00 for an online game that you can play for free, where you would normally pay $12.00/month otherwise (or is it more now, been a while since I played EQLive), is NOT bad IMO...

1) No Warez (No Discussion or Providing of Warez). Warez is any file that has been obtained without purchase from the company or a "legit" vendor, or without the sole permission of the owner, or company is considered illegal and is not permitted on these forums. This also includes all EQ files and also means do NOT ask, give out, host, or in some other way promote the giving out of these files. This includes but is not limited to: The EQ Patcher, eqgame.exe, eqmain.dll, spdat.eff, cshome.s3d, cshome_chr.s3d, or ANY file downloaded with the Verant EQ Patcher (aka Everquest.exe) with the exeption of files that can be re-created within 10 seconds by hand (this means eqhost.txt is okay).

*NOTE* Downloading the EQ Files off the Sony FTP Site is not a legal question to ask here. That is if you are buying their service, not to play here. Giving out this link will get your thread erased.
*NOTE- Not flaming, just letting you know so you dont get yourself into trouble because ignorance is NO excuse...:)

Thanks for the heads up, but I was not looking for warez. I had read else where that sony offered a very basic version of EQ for free. That might not be the case anymore, but I know that other MMO like UO have done that in the past.

Perhaps I will rephrase my question.

Is there an offical sony distrubited free basic version of EQ that is publicly available?

Google Search

Google on "Everquest Classic" I know that at some point it was available from station.sony.com

Note, found a download of EQClassic for 4.99 from sony, pretty cheap way to play if you ask me.

Yes...there is...
ftp://eqftp.station.sony.com/eqtrilogy.exe

It's not warez

It's not warez when they're giving it out free on their site... The original is free except shipping, and kunark is only $4.99!

You guys are going to get in so much trouble. The reason no warez is alloud because sony could sue the shit out of eqemu for having them on the forums, which im sure they r dying to do.

VooodooKiller28 04-18-2004 09:47 AM

Yah dont ask for warez but he was never asking for any :)
