The IQ of simple americans drops yet another point . . .
Ditto means the same . . . if someone replies ditto to something . . . that means the same thing applies to them . . . For example HOLY SHIT IM DRUNK!!!!! and his buddy replies . . . "Ditto" . . . . . it would be proper, because since your drinking with a friend, or course he is going to be drunk . . . Now granted if your drinking and you reply ditto, your friends my think you weird or something, but still, ditto is an easy way of saying SAME HERE! |
I didn't take the time to look up your ISP but, if you can tonnect to your system if you try all local IPs (and run MiniLogin.exe) but can't connect if you try your external IP address then the following is most likely the case:
Your ISP doesn't allowing incoming connections to it's customers. Basically, your ISP is blocking anyone from being able to log into your server (or view web pages from your Web Server if you had one running, etc.). If that's the case then you're kinda SOL. :( |

Obviously when I said "that really helps" anyone with an ounce of common sense would understand that more information is needed...ie my original post I posted all my output and file config's evolutionslust says simply "ditto" Yes I am fully aware that ditto means "same here" as you so eloquently put it, however for people such as yourself I shall re-word my previous post to say: Maybe you could provide a little more information, evolutionslust, so we can better help with your problem. As to mikenune, whom actually posted on this article with somethung usefull (instead of takin up forum space posting something completely irrelevant to the subject) Im not currently using minilogin....should I be? |
.... Your a moron . . . .
All the guy was saying when he said Ditto was that he was looking for the same fix you are. Why dont you shut the hell up before you make yourself look like a fool |
If you are able to log in using localhost instead of your IP, but cannot when using your IP, then it is a NAT issue... Please provide information about your connection (ie, is it DSL, do you have a router, is your IP static or dynamic, so on)...

Anyways to samandhi, thanx for your help but Ive figured out that my ISP dosesn't allow people to connect to me...is there another way besides switching ISP's? |
Not really, no.
The only way you could "get around" this is if:
Edit: BTW, I love your little sig! |

Or you can email them and ask them what ports are open, as they usually only block a range of ports (though not always)... Then just use one of the open ports that is NOT standard... This may take some research on your part, but IS possible.... To find out what ports you have open to you, just make sure all firewall software is OFF, then go to Norton's website and use their security software. Or just download a port sniffer and sniff out your own ports to see which ones are open incoming (because outgoing isnt the problem). Hope this helps some..........................:) |
Actually, I've actually run across a couple of places that would actually check for things like HTTP GET headers and such. Wich means that setting up a proxy server won't help.
Of course, your idea on how they do it is much more common so a proxy might work. |
Yeah, because all a proxy does (in your case), is to re-route the port to a different port, in your case one that will allow incoming traffic. This is all done OUTSIDE your ISP's domain, so there is NO way they can stop it...
