Whoops, and also I fowarded ports 5997-9000 on my Linksys router.
|
All routers are different, so I cant tell you how to set yours up, but we'll take mine for an example of one that is slightly different to set up.
I have a Blitzz router, and I can forward the ports all day long, but it is NOT enough. I also have to go into a tab that has a setting called virtual server (which sets the external IP to point to the internal IP)... Chances are you will need to find something like this, OR your ISP blocks all incoming traffic on NON-standard ports... The term "port forwarding" is NOT a standard term, because some routers use it differently.. EG>>>some routers use the term to mean; if you are forwarding a certain port that is just turning off the built in firewall software for THAT port... But, this DOES NOT point your external IP to your internal one... This causes some confusion as you can see...:) For the second problem (ISP blocking incoming traffic), you should send your ISP an email and find out if they are firewalled.. Some ISP's do this so that you cannot set up a web server or mail server, or FTP server on your own machine, using their bandwidth... I hope that is detailed enough to help, or at least give you a good starting point to finding the answer...:) |
I know, i went through every section on the control panel but nothing allows me to do that.

I had the same problem and alot of people have said to ignore these errors, but I added si=100 to my addon.ini, dunno what to set it to and i stopped getting the connection failed errors, but now i get the stupid 1017 errors. Double checking everything now and might be posting for help

Ok, if you have a linksys router, this may help you out
Got into ipconfig in MS Dos Prompt then, the first IP address you see, write down the last 3 numbers off of it (Circled in Red below). After you get that, copy your Default gateway IP Address. http://www.customchemicalservices.com/4.jpg After Copying the Number from Default Gateway, open Internet Explorer and put that number in the address bar and hit enter. It should come up with a box asking you for user name and password. Leave the user name blank, type "admin" as your password. (Note: This is only for if you have a Linksys router, not sure how other routers are set up ). Click Applications and Gaming circled in red in the Picture... http://www.customchemicalservices.com/1.jpg After you click that, make sure your ports are set up correctly, im not going to explain how to forward ports because thats not what this guide is about. Anyhow, under IP address put the 3 numbers that I told you to write down in your ip config in your IP Address (Mine are 101, you put your number) then click save and go back into Applications and Gaming, Then click DMZ, which is circled in RED in the picture... http://www.customchemicalservices.com/2.jpg Enable DMZ and put those 3 numbers I told you to write down next to the IP address you see, after you click enable. Then Click Save Settings... Now you should'nt get that 1017 error anymore, I hope it helped you out, it helped me... Take care all |
A good test to make sure it is or isn't something in your router, is to set everything to localhost, and if you can connect with no problems, then you KNOW it is a setting in your router, or your ISP doesn't allow incoming traffic............
