Setup 5.6
 

How do i set up 5.6. I'm not very good at doing anything like this.

The setup is exactly the same way as 5.5 and other versions, just follow the guides and use 5.6 files instead of the version it says.

i am new i have never done this before.

yes i know that but where do i put all the 5.6 files that i downloaded from source forge. Do they just go in the Everquest folder or what.

If you just want to play on other peoples servers, you don't need to download anything at all. Just follow the first link (play guide) that I gave.

The 5.6 files from SF or cvs.biosprite.net are to create your own server.

but i got eq after april 14th, which means that i need to patch to the patch that screwed eq up. so i can't play on 5.5 servers and when i tried to enter my char into the world it goes back to the server selct screen.

do i need to wait till another patch comes out or something.

Have you tried to play on 5.6 servers ? If you patched, you can't play on 5.5 servers until the server owners upgrade to the 5.6 server code.

ya i tried palying on a 5.6 server but i still get the same error. send me back to server select.

Check your graphics card, proally needs an update.

I've also been unable to run eqemu since the latest EQ patches. No matter what server type I try to use (5.7, 5.6, or 5.5) I always get the same 1017 error. Shrug.

And it's nothing to do with my video card.

Patch to live tonight and get on 5.7 DR2 servers, they are the ones currently compatible with live.

Nope, still getting same error.
