5.7???

I see that 5.6 was released, but it looks like GW2 is using 5.7? it works with the live patch (as of this morning) but it wont work with eqw....it just goes black screen, does a screen res change, then stops responding....any thoughts?

The version is set locally by the person compiling the code. They can make it say 7.4 if they want. It simply means it was customized.

eqw has nothing to do with the server version. check their webpage for the newest release. if the latest patch broke it (again) then there will be a new version of eqw out shortly.

oh, I forgot to mention 5.7 is the newest devel release. since 5.6 was released, they upped the version number for the next round. and actually, i remember reading somewhere that you can't change the version number as only certain numbers are allowed by the emu login server. i could be wrong though *shrugs*

you need to fully patch to eqlive AND download the newest EQW for EQ to work properly with 0.5.6+ (and 0.5.7+).

Thats 1/2 correct.. you cant make your server say 7.1.4 because it wont work on the loginserver. We control which versions do and do not work so its a little harder to make a custom version number.

As a rule though, dev servers (such as Guildwars, RA, ?WR?) and especially "TEST SERVER" will always be running the latest code and will have a higher version number than most if not all server.

5.6 is (probably) more stable, 5.7 is still being developed/tested.
