Non-Legit server poll
 

Please forgive me if this has already been addressed and written off or you just don't give a damn... but I have found that there are an increasing amount of [legit] [legit/custom] or the like type servers popping up. I don't know about you folks but me and my friends, when we get on, want to be GMs. I have tried several times to get a server up and running to try something to this effect, however, it has proved to be more difficult and until the summer will be unable to put much time into figuring it out. There is little a point in putting a [legit] or [legit/custom] server up, because people want power when they get on. They want:
#level
#gmspeed
#search/#si (available on most servers)
#repop/#depop
#heal
#spawn
#makepet
#zone
#name
#lastname
and others I have neglected to list.

My whole point that I am trying to make is PUT UP MORE NON-LEGIT SERVERS!!! With the exception for the few of you out there who don't want to pay for Everquest, get up off of your lazy ass and get a job, you somehow manage to get food, so you should somehow be able to find $12 a month to pay for a game.

In addition to answering the poll regarding the server types, post your favorite commands here, maybe some servers will start adding them (if they are more rare). My absolute favorite would have to be the #spawn and #makepet.

Not sure how you can speak for other "people". If you want to be a GM apply for one of the existing servers or make your own. Non-Legit servers get boring VERY fast. I have noticed a trend towards Custom-Legit servers which I think is VERY good. Not everyone is here to go on a power trip, some of us are here to try something a bit different than EQ and I enjoy the custom servers.

Personally, I take offense at your post / request for more non-legit servers. There are several reasons why.

I run a legit server on my lan for myself and friends. I do not use the EQEmu login servers specifically because I don't want people like you on my server. I run the server and fix the code to raise my abilities at programming. EQ, to me, is a fun diversion. If I wanted a completely different experience, I would simply create a new game. What I want, and what they want, is a legit EQ-like environment where they don't have to put up with the hordes of people on Live AND something they don't have to pay for, especially in light of putting up with other people's crap.

I've been lurking on this board for awhile now and only recently registered so I could post. Personally, I am sick of listening to people complain about what other people aren't doing. People constantly complain about the lack of AA's in EQEmu, or Bard song modifiers on equip, database issues, etc.

Personally, to all of the other Devs out there, I think we should ALL concentrate more on THANKING THEM for giving us something that works, instead of complaining that something doesn't work. If it's a bug, fine, post it in the bug forum so that they know. But unless you are a Dev, I don't think you have a right to complain about something that you are NOT contributing to.

If you want a non-legit server, then create your own. End of story. Figure it out instead of telling others to "Get off our lazy asses". Get off of yours and read the hundreds of posts answering questions and providing specific instructions on how to create your own server. It is NOT, afterall, THAT difficult.

Bopo, I agree with you completely. All you have to do is update your client with the May 18 patch, and there will be plenty of non-legit servers to use.

I don't play Legit servers, i prefer custom legit, IMO, it is more fun than EQlive, on EQLive, you are stuck with the same level grind and all that, on custom servers, sometimes the entire point of the game changes...

Take Raid Addicts for example, Rogean took the existing EQ client and redid his server, all he did was rework it, like change zone points, the way loot works, even the way exp works.

That is why i like custom > non-legit.

Ah... nice one tiraid, I think I will have to try it. Although you perceive me as a bit slow or perhaps just a jackass, I don't think completely ruining my EQEmu connection would be the best course of action. And for the rest of you dolts who just decided to bitch at me for no apparent reason, I recall putting up this warning right at the beginning of my topic claiming that if you don't like what I am saying then go away.

And to you gandar, I admire you for putting up a server and maintaining the code and fixing your own things, and as you mentioned, people should stop bitching about things that aren't there and wait, I agree with you. I, however, mentioned in my post that I have been attempting my own server for a while and have been quite unable to do much as I have many time restraints. For the rest of you, before you take a hit at my post, try reading it, because while you may not like it, per se, don't criticize me for not mentioning something when I, very clearly, did.

Also to Jezebell I must agree with you that I cannot speak for everyone but I damn well can speak for my friends and we all get on EQEmu to use GM abilities and to level ourselves. Now if you don't like what I have to say or don't agree with me then get the hell away from this post. I put it up here to see if I and my friends had any sort of following for NON-LEGIT servers as I have seen many of them vanish after a while.

Now as you have been saying "Put up or shut up", I am here and I will continue to push for a new NON-LEGIT server, so put up with it or shut the hell up. Personally, I don't see how having any more NON-LEGIT servers would affect you people in any way, shape, or form. You will still have your [custom/legit] because, as we must put up with, they seem to be immensly popular and won't fade away soon.

The beginning of your post did NOT start with a warning that we should just "go away" - unless I missed something, but you did start with a "Please forgive me..."

Just to clear things up, so that you understand where I am coming from...

1) I do NOT have a problem with any server that is not specifically legit. My server is currently legit - mostly for reasons of ironing out bugs, but I do plan to have a custom-legit after most issues are ironed out. The project is Open Source, therefore whoever has an available system to run EQEmu can do whatever he/she wants.

Seasoned to personal taste, and all that...

2) My personal problem was NOT that you requested another non-legit server. I couldn't really care what you requested or whether or not there were more non-legit servers or whether EVERY server running EQEmu is non-legit. Doesn't matter to me as I will do my own thing and I fully expect others to follow whatever they want to do.

3) I responded to this thread specifically because I found your "request" rather poorly formed and insulting. If that was not your intent, then perhaps you should clarify your wording a bit. Comments like: come off VERY badly and will generate negative responses. After reading several of the newer threads, there are many people looking for help in creating just what you are looking for. If you are unable (due to time, or whatever) to create your own server, then perhaps you might contact them and offer what assistance you can - this would likely grant you GM access and some control over the server itself.

Again, to clarify quite simply: I do not have a problem with your request or with non-legit servers in general. You are quite correct - makes absolutely NO difference to me whatsoever. Calling others lazy, however, for something that you haven't done (for whatever reason) wasn't called for, IMHO.

Anyway, I hope you find what you are looking for. Who knows, once I have my server bugs ironed out and start making it custom-legit, perhaps I'll make it public - and maybe I might see you there someday.

Im for a custom pure hardcore legit server ... seriously, all those classifications make me sick~

Personally, im for custom legit, i find legit server (I prefer to call them EQLive Copy) boring as hell, without imagination and concerning non legit server, i admit i still cant understand how you guys are having fun with summoning uber items, running gm speed around and smaking stuff in 3 swings. When i see 25 peoples on a non legit server, im REALLY wondering what you guys can do during all those hours !?

As for my opinion, i think playing on a Non-Legit server is fun for about a day, the problem is, when you are able to

well you are without question.. a god. now i admit being able to be fulling a Time/GoD equiped wizard with 6k hp self buffed, and 8k hp if the server has the #cast command, where you can just buff yourself up. yes its fun, wish i could transfer it to live so ic ould sell it for a few grand, but since that is not the case i choose to instead just solo quarm. now i have to admit being able to solo quarm as a wizard is quite fun the first... 10 times.. however it quickly loses its fun factor. even more so when people think its really fun to be able and hit a mob once and then just #Kill him, becuase its all the same =P. well anyway thats my opinion on non legit servers.

I am one for pure hardcore, nasty, pig loving, custom legit servers, and i don't mean those panasy ass ones that just have a few custom items, i mean total game revamp, where you are walking through the nexus heading toward the pad that normally takes you to SH, but when you step on it you are ported underwater in OOT surrounded by 10 lvl 65 KoS iksar eating....... SHISSAR! Bet you wern't expecting that... no ofcourse you wern't thats why its a custom server, lots of CUSTOM changes, shissar don't normally eat iksar, but here they do! Or when a server has tons of custom spells, not like 15 that you add to uber weapons so you can kill everyone in PVP because they proc 234523523235DD, NO! i mean like tearing down the whole system making thousands of new spells/items/ and most importantly MOBS! you have to have your own mobs, thats what makes it differ from the other servers, that is what make you unique, special, IMPORTANT. so what do you get from all this? ill tell you, we don't need more non legit servers, hell no, what we need are some damn good custom legit servers, you wanna run a non legit server, do it on your own time, your own computer, away from me. and i tell ya what, since your so powerful and all soloing quarm using only one hand, why don't you use your other one to fondle my balls, becuase you won't be needing it playing on a non legit server.

well that was fun, hope this answers your poll question.

I'll admit that playing with all that stuff is kind of boring after a while, but I don't ever use the #invulnerable or #kill as that does ruin the game. I do, however, find it fun to #makepet out of all of the different races and kill the gods, since I myself have never had the oppurtunity in EQ-Live.

I would also like to apologize to gandar as I was harsh before, I just never have gotten to be uber before in EQ-Live. And as for Fireb0rn and tiraid... I hope you die.

No problem at all - just glad we could clear it up.

My highest on EQLive was (is?) a 52nd level Bard - next is a 35th Enchanter... Not exactly Uber. 8)

Haven't played Live in awhile, so I don't even know if my characters are still alive. /shrug - I guess it doesn't matter anyway! :)

Non Legit servers are fun........for about 10 mins. Semi-Legit servers are fun.......for about 3 days (or however long it takes for you to get all your levels).

Legit-Custom (or pvp) servers have new content, you actually have to earn your levels and gear, and pvp makes the game fun because you can test your abilities vs. other players and not AI.

I like servers with GROUP bonus exp and some solo bonus. EQlive is too slow for exp.
