This Will be Kinda Like a Q and A

• Q:What Are the Legal complications?

• A:There Are none Unless You count Giving Out files Like Cshome or other Files such as that the only other thing you need to worry about is your EQ agreement witch this Voids

• Q:Are Any Of the Servers Like the Normal Everquest?

• A:Yes And No alot of the Same items,spawns,zones,loot tables,and fraction are the same but in other ways alot of Servers are Custom Legit,Legit,Semi Legit,Non-Legit So some servers are redone and are nothing like normal EQ but some try to be just like EQ

• Q: How Do i Play on the Emu?

• A:Follow what it says on this Guide Play Guide

• Q: Will I have My old Character back?

• A: No i am sorry to say you won't But there is one Loop Hole to This If You get On a Non-Legit or Semi-Legit You can Summon all Your old Gear Using #itemsearch (Item Name) #summonitem (Item Number) But on a Semi-Legit You Only can get your Gear you will have to get you level back the hard way On A Non-Legit You will be able to #level yourslef

• Q: Will All Classes And Races Work?

• A: This is another Yes and No Depends on the Server You play on Some Only will Let you play Classic Races and Classes Others Turn Everything on

• Q: Could This Get my acount on Normal EQ Banned?

• A: Yes It could but only if you get on Normal EQ and start shouting and saying things about the EMU they have logs that watch everything And if you say like Eqemu or EMU or somthing along those lines they will Start to log all your key strikes But don't worry about geting bannd unless you are talking about it on there servers

• Q: Can i host My own Server?

• A: Yes You can But i would not Recommend it Unless you have a Sh*t Load of Time and money on your hands If you are Dead Set on Hosting a Server Right From the Get Go Here is A link to tell you how Host Guide

• Q: What Servers Should i Play on Frist?

• A: I would Say a good server to start on Would be Raid Addicts Or Guild Wars

• A: You Are not Patched to The Rigth Date and The Emu staff has not yet Released the Newest Source Code Or you Just have not patched yet to the newest Source code

  Is There a Way to Revert To the Patch that works?

• A: Yes There is But it is Warez So No these Fourms do no support reverting you will need a good friend who still has the correct patch and have them send you the files you will need to revert

Where did Raid Addicts go?
 

I know yall say that it is a preferred server for a newbie, I have played on it before, and I accidentally patched at some point, or I should say, My sister did, and I couldnt get back on, but I havent played since the last patch so I havent updated the game . . However, where has Raid Addicts gone? Am I putting the wrong server set or something, or do I need to put in an older one to find those that have yet to patch to the 6.0 setup that you all have, Thank you for your time.

Xabob, you need to revise that tutorial.
- Some links aren't existing anymore, common problem when you link to forum posts because they disappear or change pretty often.
- Some of your answers aren't totally right :
-> 1017 error, doesn't all the time mean you need to patch
-> Unpatching is possible if you're backing up your hard disks and you could also advise people to duplicate their directories.
-> GW and Raid addicts servers...
-> You can host your own server for free, if you keep it private

We could use a newbie guide of that kind, but it would have to be extremly complete and accurate. We don't need 3 different guides that say the same things
ps : I saw that your guide is 7 monthes old, i prefered to comment it instead of deleting it :)

I've tried to get emu to work I've followed the guid and it still dose not work what should I do?

Mhhh, you follow a guide outdated in a section called "Need to work"
And you don't understand why this not work ? that very strange is'nt it ?

No i followed the updated guid

I disagree about needing a shit load of time and money to setup a server.

First time I set one up almost a year ago took about 1 month to perfect.

I am right now getting my server back online... started Friday, should be up by next Friday.

I only needed to buy my server computer (yeah it was expensive but not a shit load)

Anyhow, I just strongly disagree about the time and money part, because it is not that hard to do once you have done it once already, but I find it tricky finding a build that works... got a new laptop recently and all of my compilers were on old one.

=) Everquest is not too hard to setup a server for... although I am running into a small problem ATM.
