Crashing to Login screen from the server select screen

Been looking at the threads and if there has been a fix found, I must not be reading it correctly.

I am patched to live, have updated the eqhost.txt and downloaded and cut/pasted the eglsclient file.

I can log in normally and get to the server select screen, but when I choose a server 'any server' it seems like it is trying to load and then just boots me back to the login screen. If I type in my login and password, it sends me to the server select screen again but this time gives me a 1017 error.

It seems like there have been quite a few people with this problem, but didnt see a fix. Any ideas?

Thanks

This is my exact problem. I've asked for help under tasslehoffx's thread "Help Pls..." but no one seems to have an answer. I'm beginning to think that there is no fix for this problem. EqEmu just might not work on our computers. Since this appears to be a relatively new problem, perhaps Sony has beaten EqEmu; making the newest owners of the game unable to log into any servers but their own. Quick question for you: Did you recently buy Everquest Classic and then download the rest? (expansions and patches) This is what I did. I think that it only works with older versions of the game and not newer ones. (since all the "old timers" seem to be able to log into EqEmu servers and only the newest of the new seem to have this problem)

The patch today works with 5.7 DR6 so I'd suggest patching again and trying those.
