OpenZone 4.5
These two changes should make creating zones (especially dungeons) a lot quicker:
1. In the main 3D disiplay, you can now click on any object to select it. 2. After you've clicked on an object, if it is a mesh object (placed from the mesh library), you can drag that object to move it around. Just like in Dungeon Builder, dragging a mesh object only moves it in the X and Y directions, while holding the Shift key down while dragging only moves it up and down. I'm limiting this to mesh objects because otherwise it would be too easy to move the entire ground mesh (or parts of grouped objects) and that would be just too easy to screw yourself up. You can get OpenZone 4.5 here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=34673 I'd appreciate any feedback you might like to share. Happy zone building, WC |
Nice as always Wind, anyway, dont worry, there is no need to move a 3DS object in OZ, since if you want to move an object, just do it under MAX/MAYA and reimport.
I use some MSH object to make animated textured portals, pond, and this help A LOT, since my zones are around 750.000 poly and have like 250 objects. Usings coords was a pain :( I PM'ed you with masked objects link, i hope you will be able to do the convert for OZ, i badly need it for trees, plants, path, flowers :p What do i miss when i use OZ : - Hit DEL delete an object - Animate the water with 4 textures isnt enought, 15 would be a good start, 30 would be cool. - Moving MSH is nice, but i would love to see buttons like NWN Aurora toolset, aka, at bottom of 3D view, you have a set buttons to move the general view of the zone (Up / Down, Left/Right), and for the object (Up / Down, left/right). - On right, it would be neat to have the tree list of the MSH, and at bottom of this tree list, you would see the MSH selected. I know this is a lot of workn, but more basiaclly, for me, OZ need some tweak in the software manipulation to make it easily accessible by more users. Also, say me when you will have time to log on IRC, need to show you some things ;p |
