Making your server pvp?

Hello, sorry if this has been previously answered (I searched first, promise =) ) but can someone please tell me how to make a server pvp?

insert into variables(varname,value) values('ServerType','1');

Will set all characters subsequently created to pvp automatically.

Hm... I find that interesting, so far it appears as if most of the knowledge on the areas, zones, and players is held in that small SQL database.
I have an idea on that, if there is PVP area, can there be a NPC or something in a PVP zone to set that variable?
