How to change the zoom
 

When I looked in the options I saw the mouse wheel zoom on. I was wondering why is was not working for me. It worked only once, but never again. Are there other ways to change the zoom without the mouse?

I believe the zoom function only works in third person camera modes. Try using F9 and then use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of your character.

As far as changing what buttons to use to zoom in and out, look in options (CTRL + O if you havent changed the key combo) and go to Keyboard, then check all the different categories.

Can't you zoom in and out of your char in first person? use the mouse wheel on an open screen (not a chat window or anything) and you should be able to zoom out then back in....

Right. You can only zoom out.

Right, zooming out works, it brings you to third person view, you cant zoom in and out while camera is in first person though.

If you zoom out, you can zoom in. You don't go in front of your char or further then normal first person view, but you can zoom in.
