Need help and yes I'm new
 

Okay I'm trying to log onto eq just to mess around basically. I'd like to be able to visit some zones and spawn monsters to kill. I have a roomate that would also like to. I have a linksys router. I've been able to get as far as the server select screen with my minilogin server showing up but I get a 1017 when I try to enter the world. I'm stationed in iraq with very limited internet resources. I can follow basic directions and I have some common sense =). I think my problem is i'm not patch to current date. My last login into eqlive was around or before Feb 7th of this year.

Think thats everything. I'm not sure what else to do. I'm extremly bored here in Iraq and miss playing eq. I have a few friends here that would like to try the game and some who have played the game eventually about 11-12 people will be playing, but right now just wanna get it going on my computer. Looks like you're trying to run a version 5.6 server.... That won't work with the patch that you have. You might be able to get the files to run an older version... Unfortunatley, I'm not sure which version was around in February or if you could get those files or not.... I'm sure that someone here knows though....

Oh yeah, thanks for your service. We really appreciate what you're doing... well, at least I do :). What branch of the service are you in? I'm in the AF stationed in Idaho.... Well, good luck

February was 5.3, right before GoD came out. But there re several different DR versions for 5.3, I'd jsut try the latest one and keep going back until one works.
