OpenEQ News
FreakU has reached what we hope is the final name switch. The name FreakU was a joke that got too out of hand and just stuck, so we needed a new name. We decided on OpenEQ earlier today.
Aside from this, work has been done on creating a generic world/object file format. We have a partial convertor from WLD to the new format. (We're thinking of using the name OCX (Open Content eXpansion) just to confuse windows users, but if we get a better suggestion, we'll most likely use it) The new file format is much like the QT (Quicktime) file format in that it is atom-based rather than fragment-based. You can represent the file format as a tree and handle it all very easily. Work was temporarily suspended on the project due to being busy with other things at first, and then I was in a bad car accident (http://www.asleep.net/blog/Daeken/2004/09/02/320/) two Wednesdays ago. I just finally got replacement glasses this Thursday, so I can code again. The future for OpenEQ looks good, but we have a lot of work left to do. My hopes are that we can get OoW zones rendering at least partially within the next few days :D Happy Hacking, Lord Daeken M. BlackBlade (Cody Brocious) |
Is there a link where to read about recent changes / updates to openEQ (btw liked FreakU name, but nm)
A dedicated site is additional work, esp. if meant to be relevant and up to date, but ... well, just wondering. |
Not yet, though work on the OpenEQ site is being done by Cisyouc right now. Mostly just hang out in #phpgeeks (not really a PHP channel, just more a place where my friends and I sit around and BS) and #freaku on irc.freenode.net and you'll hear news :)

Wow. glad you are ok Daeken. Also glad to hear OpenEQ is moving along. I'm excited and can't wait to ditch sony's client altogether.
