EQ doesn't support my vid card? HELP PLEASE!

I run a radeon 9200, and after checking their database, I found my card is not supported. Is there a way around this so I can use eqem?

buy a new card

Sorry, the client handles this and not the server. Maybe when OpenEQ is released (dont expect this for a loong time) your card will be supported.

According to this link: http://eqlive.station.sony.com/suppo...t/ts_video.jsp You are supported. Radeon 9xxx.
However, I do agree with Baron. Buy a new card. Nvidia's run EQ and many many games far better than Atis do. The reason is that GeForce cards follow the standards, where as Radeons can be very proprietary at times and thus lack a lot of support.

I agree. I have a video card in the trash to prove it.

Well, it skips the 9200 and 9400 series and jumps to 9600. In anycase, it flat out doesn't work. I get this "No 3d object" message when I try to load. I don't have the money to buy me and my wife a new card either. I bought these ones because i got a great deal (1/2 off, 2 for 1 basically), and personally, I've had nothing but problems with nvidia. Sorry to hear I'm screwed because the only reason I quit EQ was because I refused to pay $20 a month to play because the basic live package is crap. Too many people camping, too many asshats who steal your camp.

Your video card will work just fine with the eq client. The no 3d object error usually comes from DirectX not being correctly installed.

To check your DirectX installation go to "Start", "Run"
Type in dxdiag and hit the ok button.

This will bring up the DirectX Diag tool and allow you to see and test the various DirectX functions on your system.

Ensure that the DirectDraw and Direct3D are on for your system and test each one.

Hope this helps ya!

If you installed drivers for your video cards from the cd that came with them or allowed windows to install a plug n play driver then go to ati web site and download the newest driver they have and use it...

also make sure you update your direct x from 8 to 9 if this is not allready the case..

if your on DX9 then check for the patch for it because its had a few since initial release of DX9.

lastly... check back here and if these basics wont work I can help you adjust some files to make eq ignore the hunt for card or thinnk its found the one it wants....this will prove to be buggy at times for you but will allow you to play.

Well, I have DX 9.0c (from WoW), and I got the latest drivers last month which were released...last month! Anyways, if you can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

After skimming through eqlive, I found this thread.

http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/...on+9200#M59917

you may want to try the fixes listed there

giulietta 09-18-2004 03:24 PM

please check out that thread and its links... pay attnetion and try these things you will find

delete from eq directory dx8 and dx9 .dll files as well as eqmain.dll and eqgame.exe ((carefull here as this will make you live patched to regain this file and YOU MIGHT NOT WANT!!!! this for eqemu servers on 5.7dr6 ))

one quick note I can add to the suggestions you will find is that windows 2000 service pack 4 is required for the newest ATI drivers to function correctly.

also here is a driver you could try but make sure you know how to return to your old driver

Or you can roll-back to drivers that are KNOWN to work... ATI is actually a better card than NVidia, but their horrible drivers have made Nvidia cards VERY poplular, as they put out drivers that speed up the card (and compatibility) beyond what it was originally intended to be (though they cheat at benchmark tests with these drivers too haha)....

That video card can run EQ just fine. I have a friend who still runs EQ on a Riva TNT and a ATI Rage Mobility. Keep in mind, these are like 5 year old video cards. If those can run EQ (not well, but still, it runs), then a card that is currently being sold in stores should certainly work.
