not connecting

Can anyone tell me why i can connect to any servers. i either get the 1017 error or after i make my chara the game freezes can anyone help me out?

It sounds like your client is incompatible with the version of the servers you are trying to connect to.

I'd reccomend patching to live.

i have patched to live today. and now its also booting me back to server select after i choose my chara
