Newbie Questions
Hi!
I just downloaded EQEmu yesterday, and it works great! Just a few questions: I wish to use this program to see some of the zones i will never be able to visit in me "real" EQ career, for example plane of air. However, I dont seem to be able to go there. I play by using th minilogin program and client and serve emu are on the same computer. #zone airplane gives the message "That zone is currently down" or something similar. Then I use #zonebootup 2 airplane And that works fine. Once i did a #zonestatus and airplane was up together with nro (My current zone) But when I tried to move I got the same error message again. Any suggestions? Could it be that my system isnt able to handle it, P3 500 w 256 MB RAM? Would really appreciate some help! _____ LeifK |
First, DON'T PATCH your EQ client till they release a new emu...
Now, when was the last time you patched your everquest client? You said you got the emulater yesterday, but the Varant patch on 5-8-2002 broke the emulator. So you most likely havn't played EQ for a while, how long? And just to be sure, don't ask for any everquest files. Way too many people ignore the rules of the forum (or don't read them) |
Hi there!
I have installed the emulator on my secondary machine, which isnt used very much. Guss I havent patched for about three weeks! /LK |
whats the date on eqgame.exe?
If it says March 21'st then u should be ok. |
Yes, it say march 21st.
Maybe my Hardware isnt up to snuff? Cant install on my main sys because that version is patched and I want to play EQ live on it. |
Well, if youre on a network it shouldnt be a problem.
Copy your unpatched eq directory from your old machine to a new directory on your main machine. Then, change your eqhost.txt file in that one, and never patch that version UNLESS the emu is updated for the current patch level. Just run the unpatched eqgame.exe, and you can still use your other verison to play on live. Best of both worlds, and not really that hard to manage.. |
