Got Lag

This should fix any latency problems you have over a LAN or Minilogin (Locally Hosting)
a) Open up your EverQuest directory. (Usally either C:\EverQuest\ or C:\Program Files\EverQuest\)
b) Look for a file named DataRate.txt (Should be under 5 bytes in size)
c) Open it up in your favorite text editor (Notepad will do, but if you're a purist, see my title for more information ;))
d) Change the number to 10.0, Save, and Exit.

10 may be a tad bit high unless u have a T1 :)

try 6-8

Baron Sprite 05-27-2002 01:28 PM

Well on a LAN you would most likely be running at 100 mbs which is t1 ;)

Halflink_playa 05-27-2002 02:15 PM

stilling laggy

I have tried changing datarate to 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 and I still get this REALLY bad lag.. is there another fix i could try?

Baron Sprite 05-27-2002 02:41 PM

playing on a local server/lan server? or are you connecting to someone else's?

Halflink_playa 05-27-2002 03:44 PM

this is connecting to someone else's server

ok using minilogin, i get to the server select screen, there are no listing, what do I do once here?

Phantom 05-27-2002 04:34 PM

hehe Sprite. t1 is actually 1.5, not 100 ;)

Baron Sprite 05-27-2002 07:33 PM

Really, I thought they both were 100, oh well, happens :D.

Connecting to other people's servers is based on your connection and what the host connection is as far as latency. Just make sure your datarate is about 5.0 if you have a 56k or else you will overflow with packets and go LD, if connecting to someone else's server that is :D

Halflink_playa 05-27-2002 09:08 PM

ok useing a Minilogin local server im still getting incredible amounts of lag. Even with datarate at 10.0. anyone know why?

Aniel 05-28-2002 01:52 PM

lag....

If I'm on a LAN at the house on cable modem....is that the problem? What datarate should i be on? Thanks

Baron Sprite 05-28-2002 02:54 PM

if you're playing with yourself over a lan, then have it at 10.
